I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

Older veteran: “87.”

Younger veteran: “Out here getting arrested, raising hell at 87.”

Older veteran: “It’s just beginning.”

Fighters need their tiny sidekicks by their side! Help save Artemis:

Artemis update:

It's been a tough time. He is still in the hospital, not eating.

A few folks have asked how they can help, so I've set up a GoFundMe to help with costs.

If you've ever loved Artemis, his gravity experiments and feel moved to help him, here's the link.

The Department of Transportation says it will be "reclaiming management" of the transportation hub, which it has owned since the 1980s. D.C.'s mayor says that would be an "amazing initiative."
The federal government is taking over D.C.'s Union Station. What does that mean?

The “what’s more punk” shirt is produced and sold by the Mt Pleasant Library Friends (a branch in the DC Public Library system) so all the $ goes to supporting library programs and services!

National protest organizers told people not to protest in DC because “Trump might declare martial law,” says one organizer. These people said “fuck that.” And they’re marching to the White House.

Took the Pork Chop Express to the protest at the White House (while on break from work).

I'm so glad you covered it, otherwise I wouldn't have known it was happening. I was working downtown today and glad I could pop over to the White House for a quick protest on my break! It was small compared to most DC protests, but bigger than I expected given it wasn't on the No Kings map.

“The symbolism is rich, robust, and deeply un-American”
Thoughtful thread about the symbolism of today’s military parade:

Some thoughts about the military parade in my hometown of Washington DC today -- specifically, the route. Military parades in DC are quite rare. But when they happen, they have always begun, symbolically and geographically, at the Capitol and moved outward. 1/

Punk music is known for its raw, aggressive sound, edgy fashion and mosh pits. It’s also known for being predominantly white, but that's changed a lot in recent years.

Resurfaced music from its earliest days underscores that punk has always been influenced and shaped by Black artists as well.
