If you're a game dev in the US, GDC is giving away 50 passes!

If you're not already in the US, I do not advise visiting, sadly.
We love sharing stories with our community 🤍

In the spirit of spreading that love, we’re giving away 50 FREE Festival Passes to GDC Festival of Gaming 2026 🎮✨

Now we want to hear YOUR GDC story. Tell us how you got your first job, met your hero, made a friend, or your favorite memory at GDC.

A reminder: this is an Irishman with valid papers speaking about how he's being held in US concentration camps. If you don't have to go to the US, do not go to the US. "GDC" is not "have to go". One denial at the border is going to mark you for life, and that's the best of the bad outcomes.
"A modern-day concentration camp ... People have been killed by the staff here." Irish citizen Seamus Culleton has been in ICE detention since September, despite having a valid work permit and his own business in the US.

We can’t settle for empty reforms with the regime’s terror machine. We need EVERYONE to be as loud as possible over the next week to make capitulation politically impossible for Congress.

Based in Minnesota, @minnmax.com usually covers games, but lately its creators have had to dip their toes into talking about what ICE is doing to their neighbors as well. At this point, they don't really have a choice. @yozetty.bsky.social explains:

I'm enjoying Starfleet Academy wayyy more than I expected! Browsing YT and saw lots of rage bait videos trying to cash in on hating on it which is a bummer. It's a breath of fresh air with a lot of core Star Trek values in it. Check it out if you want some uplifting scifi. Need it now more than ever

Klobuchar: "Somehow 50,000 peaceful protesters in 10 below weather were able to march without any problems, and then the next day half a dozen ICE and CBP agents couldn't handle a guy with a cell phone taking video of them and shot him. I think it's pretty obvious what's going on here."

Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin.

Here is a photo he used for several accounts.

He's directing traffic. He steps inbetween ICE and two women who are being harrassed by them (one of whom was shoved to the ground for no reason), raises his hands and turns away from them and says "Okay! Okay!" to indicate he isn't going to be aggressive, at which point they start with pepper spray
He was helping direct traffic when federal authorities approached him. Less than a minute later he was dead.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.
