Previously hung around at https://x.com/CBRFoodie. Loves food yarns & affordable tasty food in #Canberra. Believes a #CBR Beanie is just like a Chef's Hat or Michelin Star. Proudly hangs out with Ken Behrens.

The best food in Canberra is in the small family-run restaurants, cafes and food trucks that don’t appear in any of the local tourist guides. Ask a local.

Tambayan Grill and Filipino Asian Store is bright spot on the dull drive to Canberra, and not just due to the LED signage inside and out. You’ll find it turning out glistening plates of crisp skinned lechon ($20) in the Goulburn Gateway Service Station. #food
Is this the Capital Region’s best #Parmi? Victor’s Restaurant at the Queanbeyan Memorial RSL Bowling Club! I understand the legends behind this kitchen are the same legends that gave the old Central Cafe in #Queanbeyan its international status. Now plotting when I can come back for some BBQ/Grills..

38. The best food inside an archive/library that I have visited is probably the National Archives of Australia in Canberra.

Ok I’ve got to say it. The food and coffee you can get around London Circuit and Hobart Place in Canberra (ie, the area near courts and Legislative Assembly) is SO MUCH BETTER than the offerings around Macquarie St/ Martin Place/ Queens square. It’s actually embarrassing.

So we have this guy who basically lives in our front garden now. For a week, he's been back everyday, enjoying the food in my wife's veggie garden.

I should probably call someone.

Wow that is cheap! Very tempting. We visited Seoul about 20 years ago (cheap return flights to Europe). Spent a week there & loved every minute of it. Visit the old temples during the changing of the guard, the ancient markets, & the massive military museum. Koreans are super friendly.

Great piece by Jacqueline Maley. The workforce of living poor who built his wealth lives in their cars, are tracked with AI as they work and exist on (taxpayer funded) food stamps.

Speaking of beer awards that actually give you relevant background data, there's a new post up on Beer Diary — my traditional deep dive into the fresh results from the 2025 Australian International Beer Awards, trying to spot hidden patterns and figure out what it all means.
