What the judge describes is literally criminal behavior.
Since July, I've tracked at least 2,300 cases in which federal judges have ruled ICE has illegally detained people without bond or due process.

This is one that stands out:

I see your overall point, but that's a bizarre text. If the kids ask where Mom is... tell them? Whether it's on a business trip or with friends, let them know where she is and when she's coming home. Done. And the kids are fighting? Ok? Seems like a job for the parent who is home at the time. 🤷

"Amazon has done more for the average person than the government could dream of" is a wild take! Amzn is great, but the electrical grid? railways/highways? a legal system that protects property/ind. rights? DOD research that led to the the internet? Med research? This is an unserious claim.

I guess all the lawless cruelty is just meh 🤷‍♂️. Rand Paul really reminding me of that Mel Brooks quote:

"Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die."

You're right. They should include the link. Here is the study: budgetmodel.wharton.upenn.edu/issues/2025/.... And a screenshot of the part the image is referencing

I'll actually take one donut, then come back later and cut another donut in half because you know, taking two donuts is too much... only to come back later for the second half.

100 %!

What's always been weird to me is when people frame training less as a "sacrifice" they begrudgingly make for their family. What are you sacrificing? Being a slightly better amateur triathlete? And all you get in return is time with the people you love most and fulfilling relationships?
June 5, 2025 at 10:21 AM
Ok, this one hits home because I also have kids and do triathlons and you can wake up when it's dark and get back before anyone else is awake or sneak in a run during a lunch break or, you know, just get less training done, because your family is more important than a hobby. No patience for this bs.

The Republican budget bill takes food from the poor to fund additional Pentagon spending and a massive tax cut for the rich. It is not "populist." It is the latest in a package of policies that will make you pay more for less.

My take on the budget bill: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/republican...
Republicans want you to pay more for less
Donald Trump's policies are punishing the poor, rewarding the rich, inflating prices, and shrinking revenues. And for what?

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

Also I hope we're all on this same page

EVERYONE needs to be brought out of that El Salvadorian hell hole

they were ALL wrongfully deported.

I mean it's good to focus on 'And this guy was here legally and not ever a gang member AND they're Venezuelan'

but NO ONE should've been sent there

I know this might not be true for everyone, but things started to change dramatically on this front for us when our kids started elementary school. We really feel like we have this huge community now, but I know when my kids were 5 and 2, it felt really lonely. It gets better.

High school and youth sports are so valuable because they get at our basic psychological needs:
-We belong
-We can make progress
-We can have an impact

It's not about achievements. It's having a space to challenge ourselves in a healthy way.

Don't ruin sports, parents!

I've spent my whole life in sports. I'm pathetic enough to keep playing them as an old man. I've learned a lot from a large and diverse group of teammates over the years, but one thing I still don't get is the obsession so many male athletes have with the idea of being "disrespected." Let.it.go.

Ugh. You're 100 % right. I didn't think that through.

So I guess I should have said they should chant to the audience that Wonka is a dangerous sociopath and is worse than all the ill-behaved children combined.
December 9, 2024 at 8:39 PM
Ok, but then they should have been like "oompa de doo... psst hey charlie, this wonka guy is a total sociopath who should be avoided at all costs! get out of here while you still can... *something something, rhyme with oompa de doo*"
