Not gonna lie, I find this very cynical. If we met and I reach out to you, it’s not because I want you to get me a job, it’s because I like you as a person. Building a genuine relationship beats any self-serving attempt at a shallow LinkedIn connection.
Putting in a little bit of work initially to build connections, and touching base on a regular basis, can pay big dividends down the road when those colleagues may prove instrumental in identifying a new professional opportunity. cen.acs.org/careers/care... #chemsky 🧪

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Our latest.

The resolution, though nonbinding, is a significant shot at those who seek to erode transgender rights on the continent.

It’s been exactly 2 years since my #GuillainBarreSyndrome adventure started. From complete paralysis to walking, and now doing deadlifts!

I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. Recovery isn’t linear, and I'm lucky I'm still improving and recovering each day.

Here's to even more progress!

As a descendant of coal miners, let me say a very forceful "Fuck You" to anyone who uses the term "clean coal" unironically or ever describes coal as "clean".
Burgum: "CO2 was never a pollutant. When we breathe, we emit CO2. Plants need CO2 to survive and grow. They thrive with more CO2. So the whole endangerment thing opens up an opportunity for the revival of clean, beautiful, American coal."

This is your reminder to send a message to artists when you visit a museum and like their work!
They might reply and you could learn a little something about the piece you liked!

This is why we need to stop looking at metrics (number of papers, citations, h-index, whatever) for hiring and promotions. Applications need to be “list 5 (or 10) major works you have performed” (incl. open software, data sets, etc).

Immigrants, and asylum seekers are always painted as the boogeyman, stealing resources from the state, but read the article and you'll see the abuse/fraud is being committed by private companies working for the government www.bbc.com/news/article...

I don't think people appreciate the extent to which coral reefs are screwed. Even if ocean acidification doesn't get them, increasing ocean temperatures will. How screwed they are is up to us.

There’s no tipping point beyond which ocean acidification kills corals, new research shows. With every creeping bit of acidification, corals just continue to die off. 🧪🌊 eos.org/articles/cor...
Coral Diversity Drops as Ocean Acidifies - Eos
As seawater becomes steadily more acidic, complex branching corals die off and are replaced with hard boulder corals and algae.
