Kind of weird to have this story in the modern @washingtonpost.com without ten paragraphs about how polio was a staple of mid-century melodrama and its return may yield a renaissance in entertainment as well as personal freedom
Throughout the year, actions of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have alarmed public health experts, medical associations and health officials, who say he is eroding trust in science and dismantling confidence in long-standing public health measures.

Great thread on the 60 MINUTES segment that Bari Weiss spiked
This has been made available, so for purposes of commenting on Bari Weiss's decision to spike the story, here's a live-post of that segment.

It begins with a "you may recall" summary of the deportation to el Salvador. Describes the admin's claim that it could deport the men without due process

“Congress” didn’t pass this murder budget.

Republicans did it.

Republicans did it without a single Democratic vote in the House, without a single Democratic vote in the Senate.

Be precise and give, uh, credit where credit is due

One episode that has disappeared into the memory hole:

When he first took office in 2020, things were going well for Biden. He had more or less united his caucus and there were several early policy victories. His approval rating was high. Good vibes. Then came the end of the Afghanistan war.
