Anyway I feel like I'm hitting the point of "I can't logic you out of a position you didn't logic yourself into." and that you're determined to not actually do anything but try and make the same point in a different way over and over. So have a nice afternoon and I'm out.

If you have the PC of GR then you should be treated as your identified gender- just like anyone else. Gender and Sex have been used interchangeably in English and Welsh Law for ages as terms have gone and out of fashion (just as 'He' is interpreted as 'a person'). To do anything else creates chaos

And this is my major problem here- this law is 15 year old. Most of the people involved are still alive. Many are still actively involved in the political life of this country. Getting the answer from the horses mouth would have required a 2 minute walk across parliament square.

If they didn't put it in the EqA it's a fair bet they didn't want it to happen. But we also have statements from people involved in drafting the act that say the Supreme court judgement is wrong about their intention. But for some reason nobody thought to ask them.

They put in caveats where they intended that the GRA would not be the last word on the matter or where it would. That's why you can exclude trans women from women's services in some cases. It's why you needed a GRC to have the right gender on your wedding certificate.

It is, in fact, the kind of overly simplified assessment I would have been embarrassed to make in my 1st year let alone as a Supreme court judge precisely because it completely ignores that that interrelationship also effectively indicates the will of parliament.

Yes and it renders the interrelationship of quite a number of pieces of law so utterly impossible that if it had been the intention of parliament then many many people were grossly incompetent.

They're not sweeties. We don't 'offer' them to anyone. People can apply for them *if* they define as women but they don't have to. I know women who won't apply for AWS because they think it's tokenistic- are they not women?

But you claim to be a barrister and therefore should be aware that you don't actually *have* to have a GRC to protected under the PC of Gender Reassignment and that GRC's fall under the category of types of information you'd need to have a damn good reason to ask to see anyway.

But frankly the GRC question is just shorthand for "tell us about your genitals." And you'll note I did answer that. This is the thing about the Internet you can't gaslight people as easily because I can see exactly what I wrote.

But realistically apply some logic here. What possible benefit would someone have to transition if they were lying about it?
Identify me 1 singular thing they would get access to that would make their life easier that couldn't be achieved with much less effort by NOT transitioning?

1) We have the ability to use AWS if we want to (under the provisions of the Equality Act) to address a gender imbalance.

2) Nobody, Cis or Trans, 'claims' to be a woman. But no we don't ask people what their genitals look like before we let them stand for us which is what you're actually asking.

I mean me either. But they know it's going to happen. They know the majority of the membership doesn't feel like they do. But presenting it like some grandee arbitrarily went "We're just not discussing this" is at best utterly disingenuous and at worst frankly manipulative.

They had to lose TWO votes for it to happen, one of which happened after they put (presumably) their best arguments forward. If their *best* argument couldn't persuade 34% of people voting with them to stop the move to next business why would spending another half hour on it make a difference?

There wasn't a row. There was a debate, which they lost by a margin of more than 2 to 1, because they wanted to change our constitution to exclude trans people and our members said they weren't interested in doing that so rather than waste half an hour of everyone's lives let's carry on.
