If a person wants to look at harm reduction in their consumption practices, (something I personally found helpful), is to intentionally skip paying any attention to sales promos & ads around holidays, plus log out of online accounts for that company during major sales events.
I find these live toktok’s with the “agree/disagree to [(usually)false dichotomy]” premise to be interesting.
One of those niche topics I wish I could study what’s happening on the business end of the platform.
There’s a whole evolving communication systems in the format of these lives 🧫🔬🤓
I’ve been watching a tiktok creator host live conversational debates where they do a prompt and then invite people to disagree.

It is wild to see how many people want to define words in the prompt by using the christian bible. I keep wanting to shout at the screen “a bible is not a dictionary!”
In my experience, the trouble would be that moment the toddler spidey-senses hit and they recognize I need them to eat berries to record the baseline consumption rate, the toddler will suddenly refuse to eat and become adorably uncooperative 😂

New developments in my 3 year Epstein investigation, this time regarding JP Morgan Chase and its CEO, Jamie Dimon. This is a long thread, but worth sticking around for.

I want to know: with respect to Epstein’s crimes, what did JPMC execs know and when did they know it? If Dimon really knew nothing about Epstein, then how does he explain reported internal emails from his employees flagging Epstein’s activity for him?
My excessive love of emojis might have given it away already though 😉
My peers are millennials btw, if you don’t know me well enough to know the age range I’m talking about. 😅
Oh yeah, make sure you’re workplace has annually updated Worker’s Rights & Safety posters applicable to your jurisdiction.

Adjusting to the transitions is a pretty variable experience. I guess the one piece of universal advice I have would be, to remember that your colleagues are, no matter their age, always human beings & have human rights.*

*unless you’re stuck in a company trying to make AI workers happen.
It’s been quite a trip to see my peers starting to realize that *they’re* the ones now in the role of being the ‘older’ coworker or colleague to people in their late teens or early twenties.
If evil never takes a break & sleeps, does that mean it’s headed for Burn Out & collapse?

I think it’s good to remember that pressure requires community effort to maintain pressure *without* individuals becoming disposable and burning out to save democracy, while everyone else enjoys it.
Absolutely.

Something we have to understand is that evil never takes a break. Never takes a holiday. When those of us on the left breathe a sigh of relief cons seethe and scheme and pressure. And they do it constantly

That it takes constant pressure to move something as big as an institution.
It also takes ongoing work! It’s not just coming out every few months for a few hours. It’s 3.5% calling, protesting, protecting neighbors, and gumming up the works on an ongoing daily basis. So if you were there or wanted to be there figure out something you can do every single day.

I just keep thinking about the first guy to put on the frog costume reading the news today and seeing frogs literally all over the world

what a fucking thing, man

that 25 year old did more for the country in a week than most of the NYT op-ed section in a lifetime

I wasn’t exaggerating it rules so hard
I’m just perpetually feeling upset and frustrated at the way the United States an a governmental entity behaves towards other countries and its own people. Its not *just* this current situation, though this is really atrociously bad.

all these thoughts just sometimes boil over onto social media.
We (U.S.) should be finding new and innovative ways to invite people who wants to come find a better, freer, more equitable life, where they can thrive here.

There is nothing great about turning away people in need of help away from our shores.
I just wanna live my life, and let everyone else live theirs, too.

I like having the vast breadth of the United States to travel to.

And like, holy crap we’re so fucking incredibly lucky to get to live in such a fantastic place. I believe we should be pushing to expand access and accessibility.
The only kings and queens I’m interested in supporting are drag performers.

The U.S’s whole thing is supposed to be #NoKings & #NoTyrants and like, I’m pretty sure that’s one of the few uniting principles for the giant collection of states and territories that makes Us up.
Thank you for the heads up 🫶

the whole article could have just been ten pages of “Brilliant Things Eleanor O’Brien Said,” and some gold was left on the cutting room floor, but this is such a banger of a closer and it’s so very much the theme of today

Somewhere the person who owns the inflatable frog costume company is celebrating their good fortune
Estimated 3500 people attending No Kings Redmond, Wa. So many people honking as they drive by in solidarity.

Even got a cult out here passing out items. Feels like this sleepy little suburb is getting a lot louder. ❤️‍🔥

If you’re out at a #NoKings rally today, stay safe, stay smart, and wear a mask! I love you!

There are like 5 million chud microblogging apps at this point.

And yet they always end up flocking to the lib one because a site overrun by chuds sucks and is boring.

Nobody ever says "I wish I'd played more video games" when they die. Video games haven't been around long enough. I may be the first to say it.

It’s been 21 days since Adelita Grijalva won her election, yet Mike Johnson still hasn’t sworn her in.

Why? Because she said she would be the 218th signature on the discharge petition to release the Epstein files.

Her constituents deserve a voice in Congress. Swear her in NOW.
