Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Yeah, this one is only 1.5 years old! The one it replaced was 5 years old and the tank ruptured (under warranty, phew). I was in panic mode when we realized it had stopped working.

They do NOT make things like they used to!
