sometimes author, sometimes academic. always anxious.

My cozy fantasy novel inspired by my love (and fear…) of Scotland’s mountains, misadventures in academia, and time spent adventuring in Dungeons and Dragons, will be out next July!!
Del Rey has acquired The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance, an "uplifting and heart-warming" fantasy adventure by Scottish debut author and academic Chiara Bullen. The book will publish globally in July 2026 👇 #BookSky

Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to leave half-eaten cereal bars in my bag that escape the confines of their folded-over wrapper and wither into wide-reaching crumbs.

Smart glasses *need* to be banned. Struggling to think of any value they actually bring to day to day life that outweighs the sickeningly easy ways they can be used to violate privacy.
What a thing that a) people are just wandering round secretly filming women and putting their details on the internet and b) that we have devised a piece of equipment to make that sneakier www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Women filmed in secret for TikTok content - then harassed online
So-called manfluencers wearing smart glasses approach women and then post videos to TikTok.

Noticed my cat sneaking a drink out of my glass of water while I was writing. “I must move that before I drink out of it,” I thought.

Would anyone like to guess what happened? 🫠

Me & @michaelakralova.bsky.social wrote about publishing & translation, focusing on the sexy topic of metadata :-)

It is impossible to overstate how sinister this is. Not only is the US govt blatantly lying about recorded events like the killing of Renee Good and Trump mistaking Iceland for Greenland, they are now manipulating images to create a new digital record.

Guardian analysis shows images are the same, with Nekima Levy Armstrong looking composed in original but sobbing after alteration

Good morning.

A regular reminder: a tiny few hoard staggering wealth and own much of the media, while millions struggle to survive.

That’s not an accident. It’s a choice made by those in power.

Tax wealth. Fund public services. Build an economy for everyone - not the 1%.
