"Brexiteers boasted that leaving the EU would be worth hundreds of billions a year. Cambridge Econometrics estimates that over the next decade Britain's economy will be £300bn smaller than if we had not left the EU. This is self-harm on a heroic scale."

We all know Brexit’s to blame for the crisis facing UK steel – it’s time for politicians to be honest and reverse it | Simon Jenkins
With British industry faltering, the excuse that the public wants this is risible. Parliament must force Starmer to act, says Guardian columnist Simon Jenkins

Well deserved humiliation.

Right. And even in UK we’ve got a Labour government criminalising protesting a 🤬 genocide. Un-bloody-believable.

The campaign against “antifa” is about establishing a beachhead for further attacks on speech and assembly rights. We see that today in the effort to preemptively label No Kings protesters as “terrorists.”

There is some commonsense and decency left in this crazy world, then.

I surely hope so.

Leaders, politicians and media/ journalists who were complicit in this appalling period of war crimes.

We see you. Your reputation is already trashed. A reckoning will come. We will remember and fingers will point at you.

She’s not wrong.

But you just know her response to a freeze caused by a failing AMOC would be “but you said global warming!”

Jesus wept. 🤦‍♀️🤯 I’ve never in my life hoped someone would drop something in the bath and electrocute themselves. But here we are.

Every word.

"The Green Party had a particularly strong conference season under Polanski... with a bold platform of nationalisation of major utilities, a wealth tax and stronger environmental policy."

Power and wealth have taken our assets. We must take them back.

Read the article. Currency, even your mortgage is not a loan from existing funds or deposits. Banks create both a credit and a debt. They effectively create the money.

Expected bias from the Beeb now. Time we talked about the current lack of trust and respect they have garnered. It’s a shame but a done deal at this point.

Since 1980, the ECHR has heard just 29 UK immigrant deportation case, and the UK won 16 of them. Quitting will make no material difference to immigration, just weaken protections for absolutely everybody in this country. But Farage and the Tories know that.

Another day through the looking glass with UK politics starts with Reform finding out strangely enough that local government isn't spending all (or indeed virtually any) money on woke initiatives they can easily cut. www.ft.com/content/277c...

If any Government can just snatch basic human rights away from any section of society when it pleases then none of us has rights – just privileges that can be taken away by people in power whenever they want

Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to change how judges interpret the European Convention on Human Rights – a move that risks weakening everyone’s protections.

The ECHR has become a convenient scapegoat for challenges around migration and sovereignty.

Madness. All it takes is “Palestine”. And that’s because they don’t like being told they’re supporting genocide. So let’s make it illegal. Positively Trumpian logic.

I do believe based on the Cadwallader work that he’s in it up to his neck and I think he’s probably going to come to a sticky end on money as he’s played fast n loose thinking he’d never get elected.
chiaroscurof19.bsky.social
Yes, but he should know better. He sounds like Trump, saying stuff to see how far he can go with this.
