Scientist, science fiction reader, anime enthusiast, you can imagine the rest (go left, though).
Interesting day yesterday, but the long and short of it is, if your eyes start doing weird stuff, get thee to an emergency room.

(I'm ok; it took all day to confirm nothing weird was still going on. But all the docs said If it HAD been something more serious, then time is of the essence!) 👀 😱

Now sadly I only see the Israel - Gaza parallels. 💔

"Eventually “the president ordered it” becomes sufficient justification for any action, any violation, any atrocity."

Read this and do not let it go unheeded, eh? We cannot just go quietly into that dark night.

Yup. This is a) unnecessary (waste) and b) part of the effort to make sure research conforms with whatever nuttiness of the day came out in the last executive order and c) removes any documentation about why a grant that was well reviewed by actual scientists as worthy of funding was not funded.
This is concerning.

NIH is changing their policy so that staff have to prepare justification for every application that is funded BUT NO DOCUMENTATION FOR APPLICATIONS THAT ARE SKIPPED (BASED ON PERCENTILES).

„Quiet, Piggy!“ Just think about that for a minute, and what it means to live in a time when a President can assault a woman in public like that without any consequences.
It‘s quite a testimony to the age of regression we live in.

Sigh. I finally can give blood again because the mad cow rules changed, my iron is solid, I have the time -- and they couldn't find my vein!! 😭 They quit rooting around for it when I nearly screamed from the pain. Never had that happen before!

I am testing our study that pings you a few times a day about your mood. Turns out, scrolling on blue sky actually moves me off zero on anger and irritation, and lowers my hope and happiness.

Sigh.

Exactly. Look to your left and right, and who is standing up against this misogyny? It had better be all of you!
Absolutely part of the problem.

If US listened to and respected its women, Trump would have never, ever been a President.

We can’t end violence against women unless more people are willing to speak up.

Long day but four of the meetings were with students/trainees; and I do enjoy seeing the next generation moving forward. 😁 They are all different in what they can do, where they move quickly or where they are weak, but they are all working hard and figuring stuff out. Can't complain about that!

(It was freaking COLD!! 🥶 But I kept up a 16 min/mile walk the whole 5K, and am pretty pleased about that.)
