Make Brexit work, red lines, anti-immigration rhetoric and Brexit gammon appeasement worked wonders.

Well done Keir Starmer and Labour 🤡

This would be an extraordinary development. I think it's absurd. But then we live in a crazy world.

Super interesting thread by Jorge. Read it.
The European Union has triggered Article 122 to indefinitely immobilise the assets of the Russian Central Bank, worth a whopping €210 billion.

I explain what just happened and why this is such a big deal for Europeans.

🧵 Long thread.

Labour is a Brexit party!
Britain’s top Europe minister Nick Thomas-Symonds today defended a decision to keep the U.K. out of the EU's customs union, saying that Tuesday's non-binding British parliamentary vote on rejoining risked reviving bitter arguments about Brexit.
Britain’s Brexit point man says no to rejoining EU customs union
But speaking to POLITICO, U.K. Minister for European Relations Nick Thomas-Symonds sounds bullish on a wider reset of ties with the bloc in the new year.

"The prime minister has ruled out rejoining a new EU-UK customs union, stressing it would not be 'sensible' given the new deals with countries such as the U.S. and India on trade." Independent

Whenever I said over the years Keir Starmer and LAB are pro-Brexit I got stick. Well!

As of today until at least Christmas people in Catalonia have to wear masks again in hospitals, health centres and care residences primarily because of the current gripe wave.

Well said by Sarah. And Labour are the worst. Have you noticed how many Lab MPs and voters are pushing back all the time? Constantly finding excuses why they have to stick to their bloody red lines. My fav is 'the EU wouldn't want us back'. Maybe make a fing effort and ask. Then you will find out 🙄
We despair that the rightwing keep shifting the Overton Window further right. They never suggest that leaving the ECHR is impossible or not the right time. They just demand it. And we end up discussing it.
It’s time the left pushed back.
Not put up ‘can’t do’ barriers to our own hopes and aims.
👏
🚨BREAKING🚨

MPs have voted to PASS our bill to establish a UK-EU customs union.

The Prime Minister must now listen to his own MPs, drop his self-imposed red lines and finally go for proper growth through an ambitious trade deal with the EU.

Exactly! Stella Creasy makes the case again for LAB to continue with 'make Brexit work'. Basically Marmite repacked hoping nobody notices it 🥱

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

"I think we would be allowed back in without the Euro."

For me as an EU citizen who loves the Euro currency it actually wouldn't be so much of an issue if the UK wanted back in but without the Euro.

On one condition: Don't export your bloody Marmite to us 😂
Good report.
As far as accepting all of the rules necessary to join: I think we would be allowed back in without the Euro.
A Referendum would need to be held with an (emphatic) 60-65% approval.
At which point, Reform (if they still exist) couldnt do much about it if the Referendum was emphatic.

Exactly! It isn't our job in the EU to make it work. The UK seems to think now that it should have *centre of attention* status but the EU has other priorities too.
