“Every film is a puzzle, really, from an editorial point of view.” —Walter Murch
It’s really tiring and annoying to have postseason games decided by dubious ref calls but that’s what the NFL likes, I guess.

every single successful general strike in US history has had union backing through the local AFL-CIO

this is the first time it’s been called for since the 1940s

I’ve literally traveled from LA to SF to specifically see a movie.

Not to mention, here in LA we routinely drive a half hour or so “to another town” to see movies.

Highly recommend folks see this movie: it’s very, very funny and also very, very savage.
“The great tragedy of this film is that rage is not aimed at the right target."

@zacharylee.bsky.social spoke w/ NO OTHER CHOICE dir. Park Chan-wook & star Lee Byung-hun abt the film’s interplay of light helps, their thematic fascinations around rage and masculinity, & family ghosts:
Aim Your Rage at the Right Target: Park Chan-wook and Lee Byung-hun on "No Other Choice" | Interviews | Roger Ebert
The director and star talk about fatalism, light, and how the film changed their approach to disappointment and failure.

I'm just going to point out that ICE is about 23 years old. It was formed as part of the response to 9/11 and was reactionary, performative, and racist from the start.

Its not eternal. This is not a thousand-year Reich.

How fossil-fuel fetishism has us behind in energy: "I don’t think China is eating our lunch, per se. I think they made their own lunch. The nation invested in the kitchen, hired better chefs, refined its recipe year after year, and turned its offerings into something people like me genuinely crave."
I Came to CES to Check Out Energy and Solar Power Innovations and Found That China Is Running Laps Around Us
In Las Vegas, I saw a tale of two nations’ energy priorities. The US needs to get its act together.

Remember that scene in Monty Python & the Holy Grail when John Cleese’s Lancelot endlessly charges at the castle (same take repeated ~6 times) & then suddenly he’s at the gate, cuts down a guard & goes through, & the other guard stares and says “…hey”?

MAGA bullshit is Cleese, the guard is the DNC.

Grok AI has been producing deepfake nonconsensual intimate images used to harass women across the internet.

This is unacceptable. We’re demanding immediate answers from xAI on their plan to stop the creation & spread of this content.

We’ll use all tools at our disposal to keep Californians safe.

Us Olds need to shout to the heavens to remind everyone that ICE started in 2003. I have clothes older than it. We got along just fine without ICE before and we can get along just fine without it now.

I’m looking forward to seeing this and I’m aspect ratio-agnostic, but this particular shot is a terrible use of a 3:1 frame.
#NowWatching and kudos to Bryan Fuller saying, "They're finally gonna let me direct a movie? I'm using the widest aspect ratio I can."

Bring it on, 3:1.
