Today is the birthday of artist Mary Blair (Oct. 21, 1911-July 26, 1978). She produced concept art for Disney classics such as Cinderella, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, and The Lady and the Tramp. She also illustrated children’s books & helped design Disney rides like It’s a Small World.

Yeah if time is limited you might be good with seeing a smaller shop or two, Mile High can suck up a lot of time just trying to see it all.

But it’s a cool place to visit and browse, if you’re already there it’s worth a visit even if only to say you went. There are other shops in the city there too but I didn’t go to any.

It’s a HUGE space, cool stuff to look at so if you want spectacle/sensory overload then it’s a good time. As for actually shopping, the selection is just okay, and honestly (my opinion) I felt everything was overpriced. Cool stuff but nothing I couldn’t find online or at a show, for way cheaper.

I always spent my childhood quarters on the “To Kill A Mockingbird” pinball machine…..get the ball in Boo Radley’s tree for an extra play! 100,000 points if you bust up the chiffarobe!

Today is the birthday of artist Ramona Fradon (Oct. 2, 1926-Feb. 24, 2024). Most known for cocreating Metamorpho and her work on Aquaman, Superfriends, Plastic Man, and the comic strip Brenda Starr, Reporter.

A commission she did of Aquaman’s wedding and three comic books she did the covers and/or the interior art for: The Brave and the Bold #66, featuring Metamorpho and the Metal Men, Superfriends #28, and Plastic Man #19.

Today is the birthday of cartoonist & illustrator Alex Raymond (Oct. 2, 1909-Sept. 6, 1956). He is most known as the creator of the comic strip Flash Gordon, but he also created or cocreated the comic strips Secret Agent X-9, Jungle Jim, and Rip Kirby.

Just finished my goal of reading Amazing Spider-Man 111-125, with the last three issues pre-dinner. Nice run, and sets me up for the first clone saga whenever I get back in - which will be for 126-150.
