Similar to “the future is here, it just isn’t evenly distributed;” the heat of your take isn’t evenly distributed, and depends heavily on your network.

Stuff that’s milquetoast in one community will be blazing hot in another.

So when I say that AI is a bubble, that’s hot or cold depending.

Loads of good stuff in this interview with James Blair from Posit. A few in particular:

AI makes things in the sales / solution engineering space that would be cost prohibitive, like custom demos, routine. True for me at work, where I have a Claude command for this.

What if LLMs increase our output but don’t make us more productive?

A huge part of being successful in an organization is understanding which of the things on your to-do list are to-dos and which are to-don’t’s.

You need some tunnel vision and to ignore a bunch of plausible sounding “priorities.”

The writers clearly decided to try an offbeat goofball episode today to break up the horror.

Not sure how to feel about it!

This post by @alexnoonan.bsky.social is the most grounded and useful guide to data pipeline optimization I’ve read in a very long time.

Most things I read on this are overly generic because it’s a nuanced topic.

It’s pretty long, and it’s worth every minute:

If the measure of a movie is how much time you spend thinking about it after, Bugonia is a fantastic movie.

Beautiful, surprising, echoes and reinterpretations of myth, stunning performances.

Glad it is one of the few movies I’ve made it to theaters to watch.

Why is there a ceiling for data analyst career ladders?

In software engineering there is a concept of a “staff+ “ role that is still an independent contributor, but isn’t on the people management track.

Data Engineering and to an extent analytics engineering have this type of role.

“Flexibility without fragmentation”

In addition to some solid alteration, it’s also a great explanation of how to build a data team and how your system can and should scale.

@colton.boo and Dennis Hume have an awesome new ebook on this topic, check it out!

Populist Dems won. Moderate Dems won. We won in blue states. We won in purple states.

Maybe the take is that (a) people think Trump is out of control; and (b) people like Dems when we're taking a stand and fighting for what we believe in - as we have been for the last month.

Learn English the Hard Way.

Software Engineers have had to learn to write code and understand the fundamental architectures despite extensive frameworks that obfuscated those core principles for decades. And those engineers create beautiful and effective software.
