Mike Conley is back, and he appears to be set for Friday's home game, the first after the break for the Wolves. Cue the dual "Thank you, Mike" and "Welcome back, Mike" videos.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed Mike Conley to a deal for the rest of the season, league sources told @hoopshypeofficial.bsky.social. Conley has averaged 9.2 points, including shooting 41.3% from 3-point range, 4.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in four combined seasons with Minnesota.

I had some thoughts at the All-Star break about what, in 8 years on the beat, has felt like the heaviest Timberwolves season I've covered so far: www.startribune.com/minnesota-ti...
Analysis: Will the collective weight on the Timberwolves be lifted with another playoff run?
Things are heavier than usual around the team, starting with the overall moodiness of players and that effect on games.

Really strong column from Sarah worth your time.
Today I offer some thoughts on what the “foundation of NBA competition” and “integrity” of the game mean. Spoiler alert: there is integrity in tanking when the system incentivizes it and backs small markets into a corner.
The Jazz were fined for trying to build a better team and working in a system that incentivizes losing
NBA commissioner Adam Silver’s perspective of the integrity of the game is not the same as everyone else’s

In this Ohio diner, Anthony Edwards is the actor from ER and a "triple double" still means two eggs, two strips of bacon and two pancakes. But now the NBA is taking that all away.

Using my best NYT pitchbot voice...

"The Timberwolves are 7-3 over their last 10 games. But why does it FEEL like they're 3-7?" Did I do that right?

@nytpitchbot.bsky.social
Lol no I wouldn't - amazing how different it feels vs how it really is

Would you believe ... the Timberwolves are 7-3 over their last 10 games, which is the second best record in the Western Conference over everyone's last 10?

Watching “Dr. Nora” from Frasier season 6 and never realized it til now but it was genius to have both Nora and her mom initially misrepresent themselves when they first met Frasier @joekeenan.bsky.social

Aretha Franklin famously made Goffin-King’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” one of her signature songs, but she also recorded their composition “Oh No Not My Baby” on her 1970 album ‘Spirit In The Dark.’

I get the feeling that this minutes distribution we're seeing tonight (Bones the 8th man at 9 minutes, the top 7 at 24 and up) is going to be what it looks like come playoff time.

Nice set up from McDaniels to his All-Star break vacation friend Naz Reid. Jaden would not reveal where they are going, only saying it'll be somwhere warm.
One of those nights where you really appreicate all Jaden McDaniels gives on both ends of the floor. Playing physical, bringing the energy/effort every possession. 15 points, on 6-7.

Timberwolves had 11 fast-break points that quarter.

Good start from the Wolves tonight, up 16-9 and have forced 4 Portland turnovers. They seem to have avoided last-game-before-All-Star-break-itis.

Jaden McDaniels said before this season he "used to not like shooting threes."

"I just didn't wanna shoot threes because I feel like I could just get in the paint whenever. So I'm like why would I shoot [a 3]? ... But my mindset was messed up back then. I'm good now."
