Book Jack fights his alcoholism, Movie Jack gives in to it. No wonder King doesn't like it.

Adjusted for inflation, Legacy made $256m in the US and $594m worldwide.

It wasn't even Disney's biggest film of the holiday season.
cinemalimbo.bsky.social
For further comparison, TRON Legacy opened opposite Yogi Bear and the second week of a Narnia movie and it made $17.5m 15 years ago ($26m in 2025 money).

‘TRON: ARES’ has earned $14.3M in its opening day at the domestic box office.

For comparison, ‘MORBIUS’ opened to $17.3M.
cinemalimbo.bsky.social
Gillian Anderson is given nothing to do, Greta Lee - the closest thing to an engaging protagonist - is hampered by the zero depth in the script, the fanservice is embarrassing and the music is horrible.
cinemalimbo.bsky.social
TRON Ares is shockingly terrible.

Even speaking as someone who loves Legacy, it's truly awful. A moronic script, flat characters, feeble direction and at its core Jared Leto, the world's worst actor, as a character I didn't realise until halfway through was supposed to be the lead.

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

I would have put Jerry Lewis in Elf. Or WC Fields in Scrooged.

If you mean positioning within your lane, line up so the yellow line/kerb on your left is going into the middle of the dashboard and the white line/lane marker on the right is going into the corner of the windscreen.

I have never seen Coronation Street.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

I agree, please send me money.

If you can afford it, support good film criticism today.

The alternative are these idiots spewing word salad reviews that are little more than a semi coherent recap that manages to insult the craft of filmmaking while misunderstanding every creative choice that was made.

Have just seen a popular Youtuber reviewing a stone cold horror classic complaining about the camera work (describing it as "bad"...) because it made them feel anxious during a scene of tension which "was probably done on purpose".

I fucking despair.

All of this thread, but especially the Drake/NotLD mashup.

The Slasher Olympics heralds the start of this year's Hallowmeme Countdown.
🎃
The 6 panel Bronze Medal meme. The top left panel shows an athlete bowing his head to receive his medal, but the athlete is now Freddy Krueger. The top right panel shows him biting down on the medal. The middle left panel shows him kissing the woman who placed the medal around his neck. The middle right panel shows him shouting with joy as he sticks up two middle fingers. The bottom left panel has him opening a lively bottle of Champagne. The bottom right panel shows him spraying his face with Champagne as he chugs from the bottle. He's standing on the 3rd place podium, which features the number 45+ (his rough killcount). Michael Myers is standing on the 2nd place podium with a killcount of 150+. On the 1st place podium is Jason Voorhees, with an approximate killcount of 160+. Before anyone dives in to tell me that, actually, I'm wrong because so-and-so has killed more people than such-and-such, I don't care. I looked at numerous sites that claim to have answered this exact question, and Michael and Jason often swap places, so I just went with the character I like more.

Favourite films of the year so far this decade: Swallow, Another Round, Blonde, Godzilla Minus One and The Substance.

One Battle After Another has been getting a lot of “best movie of the decade” talk, and I’m inclined to agree but I’m curious — what’s the competition?
