The Epstein Files Transparency Act is a law, passed by Congress on November 19 with an overwhelming vote. Complying with it was not optional. The Department of Justice did not comply.

I want to make sure this is very clear.

DHS publicly fantasizing about massive state violence should be taken seriously, and warrants labels such as fascist and white supremacist. But don't lose sight of the fact that it's beyond their capabilities.

The regime's desire for authoritarian repression is bottomless. Its capacity isn't close.
They want to wipe out almost a third of the country. It’s got nothing to do with illegal immigration.

It’s white nationalism pure and simple. They’re fascists, and there’s no reason to doubt it.

Trump's attempting to transform the US from a country that welcomes immigrants into a radically xenophobic nation that demonizes immigrants of color, and even their US born children. But Trump didn't campaign on this destructive/reactionary remaking of America and most Americans don't support it. 1/

something very important for Dems to realize is that the tech overlords are not people you can win back by promising a lighter touch and saying a few nice things

they’ve gotten a taste of mask-off fascism and they are not going back, they don’t want to play nice with the peons anymore
There’s a funny Politico story showing that the latest polling on AI shows 80-20 in favor of heavy regulations, an absolute slam dunk platform, but Dems are worried about not winning back mask-off tech CEO donors

As a White kid growing up in Virginia in the ‘70s, I didn’t identify with enslavers or abolitionists; I empathized with the people they enslaved. FJDV
In U.S. history, some white people were enslavers & other white people were abolitionists.

White people like JD Vance who think teaching about America's history of racism shames white kids should explain why they think white kids will associate more with enslavers than with abolitionists?🤔

The New Deal and Civil Rights - two pillars of American society that I grew up with. Our national moral code that defined where we were always headed, even if we disagreed on how to get there. No more.
Finally had a chance to read this Incredible piece by @gregsargent.bsky.social that documents Miller’s attempt to undo and reverse the 1965 immigration settlement and reveals how central this effort is to the administration’s reactionary aim to take down the New Deal and civil rights orders.

Think about this. Did you hear trans panic headlines in the 2000s? No.

Conservatives weren’t “worried” about trans people until the day they lost on Marriage Equality.

Once they realized most of us are just fine with gay marriage, they needed a new wedge issue and started attacking trans people.
I’m rewatching Mad About You & theres a joke where Ursula the ditzy waitress mistakes a recurring character for a post-op trans woman and immediately talks about how great she looks now, then deadnames her as part of a running joke at Ursula’s expense. In 1995. The great trans scare is manufactured.

Earlier this year, we documented nearly 50 incidents of immigration officers shattering car windows to make arrests — a tactic experts say was rarely used before Trump took office.

ICE claims its officers use a “minimum amount of force.”

You can judge for yourself.

I suspect that we’re going to see a race by a lot of corporations to exploit the new status quo, not because they’re all corrupt, but because they don’t want to risk being left behind.
Trump just gave a commutation to David Gentile, a private equity executive who defrauded investors of $1.6B.

Meanwhile, Trump's regime has also scrapped enforcement actions against over 160 corporations accused of misconduct.

A new Golden Age for corporate criminals.

So while supporters of both parties may use traditional means, such as phone calls and emails, to prompt their representatives to vote the way they want, only the republicans use terrorist threats to get their way.
“.. I believe these threats are a result of the redistricting pressure on Indiana," state Sen. Jean Leising said Monday in a statement, saying that she was the target of a pipe bomb threat over the weekend.

I don’t see this as hypocrisy; I see it as indicative of the mindset of many on the right. They see themselves as worthy of fair treatment. Those other people are inferior and undeserving of anything but harsh treatment. I reject the premise and their conclusion.
Her parents owe their lives to the United States accepting them as asylum seekers fleeing religious persecution in Iraq in the 1980s. She wouldn't be here if we had not offered her family safe haven.

The hypocrisy is stunning.
Habba: There were individuals that were saying that this should be a safe harbor, a safe haven. Why? America is America because we protect our own.

It doesn’t matter who committed this act or why, the regime will exploit it for their own benefit. 500 more people are going to be used as pawns, and they’ll probably be denied the pay and benefits they deserve.
Place National Guard in harm’s way for no good reason. Two members are tragically and unnecessarily shot. The reckless regime’s response: We’re sending 500 more National Guard troops! What a disgrace.

So, by all means, keep it up
Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Wow. When there are so many judicial appointments to fill, I guess a few of them are bound to be nut jobs.
In an unhinged dissent in our Texas redistricting victory, a GOP appointed judge seems to believe that George Soros and I did...well, I'm not sure what...but he is very mad. Bigly.
