The reason the south has languished for generations is that the white leadership cares more about preserving a white male hierarchy than making their society better. We're now seeing that on a national scale. The Trump administration is turning the US into deep south style autocracy.

The "war" now is between Trump's fake bot and troll army and actual MAGA who would never previously support using military force against peacefully protesting Americans. Trump wants them to share his thirst for blood and revenge. Some MAGA say "this is going too far".

Ah yes, the wave of violence that was made up by the statisticians at Breitbart.

They aren’t even citing any real numbers to justify this.
mmasnick.bsky.social
I seem to recall that it was the biggest 1st Amendment attack in American history when the Biden admin alerted social media companies to some content and said "hey does this violate your policies?" Will Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger and (lol) CBS News Editor in Chief Bari Weiss call this out?
Tweet from Pam Bondi:

Today following outreach from
@thejusticedept
, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target
@ICEgov
 agents in Chicago.

The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.

“Gaza needs leadership called in by the people themselves, not appointed from the outside,” Sundos Fayyad, a journalist in Gaza, told me. “Rebuilding what’s been destroyed may be impossible, but any future worth living begins with that right for representation.”

BRILLIANT article by Mohammed R. Mhawish:
“Survival is the most meagre inheritance. To call us resilient is to praise the caged bird while ignoring the cage’s latch. Surviving destruction is not the same as defeating it. There’s cruelty in this praise.”

Gaza’s Broken Politics
Every movement that claimed to speak for Palestinians has failed them. The next chapter must belong to those who have endured the devastation.

Compared to this nonsense from Booker, Harris' answer on MSNBC is actually quite astute especially if your goal is to straddle the line. Booker's goal is to be the pro Israel stalwart in 2028.
diplomatofnight.com
Whereas Harris told MSNBC that she believes whether or not Israel has committed genocide is a fair and honest question to ask, Cory Booker explicitly said to the "I've Had it" podcast that he thinks addressing the question of whether Netanyahu has committed crimes would undermine resolving conflict.

Hey guys I went to the Albuquerque balloon fiesta this weekend
Three hot air balloons inflated on the ground glowing from the inside against the night sky. One has a diagonal checkerboard pattern in black, white, yellow, and purple; one has a chevron pattern in flame colors; and one has a checkerboard pattern in magenta and charcoal. A big cloudy sky just before sunrise, with a crowd of people and a row of tents and kiosks lit up in the near distance and mountains in the horizon. A partially inflated orange and yellow hot air balloon is off to the side. Several colorful hot air balloons inflated on the ground, near and far all over the place. A whole bunch of colorful hot air balloons in various states of inflation blanketing the horizon.

Pro-Israelists will not like this answer, even though it basically says nothing. They don't want nothing. They want a firm rejection of this charge. Anything less is a demonstration of their weakened position.

On MSNBC, Kamala Harris was asked if she agreed that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians.

“I will tell you that when you look at the number of children that have been killed [...] the refusal to give aid, we should all step back and ask this question and be honest about it, yeah.”
Former Vice President Kamala Harris held back from labeling Israel's actions in Gaza a "genocide" on Sunday but said it was an appropriate question.
"A lot of folks in your party have called what's happening in Gaza a genocide. Do you agree with that?" correspondent Eugene Daniels asked Harris during an interview on MSNBC's "The Weekend."
"Listen, it is a term of law that a court will decide," Harris responded. "But I will tell you that when you look at the number of children that have been killed, the number of innocent civilians that have been
killed, the refusal to give aid and support, we should all step back and ask this question and be honest about it, yeah."

1/3 of the country supports it. 1/3 of the country is outraged and disgusted. The other 1/3 doesn't care because it doesn't personally affect them.

This country is beyond screwed.

It totally hurt her.
And that hurt, did the same for millions in America and the world.
taulby.bsky.social
Reads like a tacit acknowledgement that her refusal to diverge from Biden's genocidal policies hurt her in the election. What she thinks once people are honest about the genocide question remains to be seen.

Chaos at 105th Street and Avenue N. A couple bricks and possibly an egg got thrown at a squad of federal agents who were standing in the intersection. Two cars — a white SUV and a red one — got trucked out after a chase and a crash, per neighbors. At least three detained from this confrontation.

one response to this (correct) observation is to say “well, the cops will attack you no matter how you dress and behave.” that’s right. images of cops and ICE beating grandmas and kids in inflatable frog costumes is a win for the opposition.

one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--
