Farewell Judith. I think I caused you to accidentially resign as a minister that one time when your boss thought I had emails that I didn't. And your stubborness on Twitter when I called you out for you citing fake news was pretty funny.

Because I believe in recycling here's a War Collins post.
I wonder who Ju Co is fashion channelling in her "prepare for war" speech to the army.

Daddy Kim or daughter Kim Ju Ae.

YES AND: over 50% of voters think the level of Treaty of Waitangi influence on government decisions is about right *or could be even stronger* - same poll

(Support is closer to 60% if you set aside the “don’t knows”, and just look at those who have particular feelings one way or the other)

Jacaranda trees (Jacaranda mimosaefolia, Bignoniaceae) have been flowering in Nelson NZ for several weeks and I took these photos today. It's just as well I did a dissection, because what I thought was the stigma isn't. Explanation in ALT. 🇳🇿🌱 #bloomscrolling

I think JuCo deserves a fitting tribute from a colleague so here's an old Bill English quote about her.

"pushed beyond her capacity ..... with an unfortunately high estimation of her own competence"

good riddance to Minister Judith Collins, who orchestrated the present gutting of New Zealand's science funding establishment

I've not seen or heard any coverage today that mentions this tiny detail, affecting 100s of millions of public dollars and endangering NZ's entire intellectual community
Judith Collins resigns after a near quarter century in politics
She has been in Parliament for more than 20 years, as the MP for Clevedon, and then Papakura.

It’s not unheard of for a FORMER politician to be put in this role - Sir Geoffrey Palmer was appointed in 2005 - but no current politician has ever been given it (and by their own government) … this carries a real risk of apparent-partisan bias in what has been a non-party-serving institution.

No, Winston. The Bored [sic] of Peace doesn’t need a “measured look.” It needs a swift and unmistakable “Get to fuck, Donald.”

Anything else and you’re excluding yourself from sensible political conversation in Aotearoa. You can no longer be taken seriously.

stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

Adelaide's 44.1°C today has absolutely smashed the previous heat record of 41.3°C from 2006.

Busting records by 2.8°C shouldn't be normal, but it seems like it's the new normal.

@albomp.bsky.social, how about DOING a bit more about the #ClimateEmergency like not approving more coal mines?
