It doesn't have to be like this.

There's plenty of money in Aotearoa New Zealand, it's just far too concentrated.

My theory that Luxon has already been rolled, but it’s not announced yet is feeling stronger by the day. He’s on gardening leave on Waiheke until they feel the moment is right to announce. Perhaps it’s to announce the election date and immediately step down?

Hmmm. Little hint of a stall here. New bank lending is like fuel for our economy - banks create brand new shiny money, people spend it, stuff gets bought, wages get paid, profits get made etc. What's going on? [🧵 1/n]

Your dehumanising headline serves as propaganda for a government deliberately underfunding & reducing access to services for our most vulnerable, in service of wealthy people.
Challenging that erosion should be the story; that it’s not says something about the erosion of our humanity.

If you’re thinking that a 5.1% rise in the cost of essential public services is unwelcome in a cost of living crisis, this is a reminder that - according to IRD - the richest 350 families in AoNZ pay an effective tax rate of just 8%

#nzpol
#TicketingNews: Bus, train and ferry fares will increase on 1 February in Auckland.

Fares will increase by an average of 5.1% to keep up with rising costs.

So like a few others on here, I've decided to be more active in pushing for policies that reflect what I want to see. To that end, I've signed up with the Greens.

I realise I won't be convincing disinterested people but as someone who has a) worked in an industry that is pretty hard 1/2 #nzpol

Fun note: this photo is the EB Games at West City mall. Directly upstairs is a Paper Plus that's closing in a couple of weeks. Which is next to an empty store, and just and the corner is the empty store that until recently was a Miniso.

It's a shitty time for retail.
Turns out all the need to do to revive your struggling retail business is sell everything at 50% off very urgently.

It seems a whole lot of self-described left voters in NZ really ought to leave behind their outdated reckons about who the Greens are.

The Greens have costed plans for all the kinds of things that left-leaning voters say they want, and that are good for everyone in this country.

✅ ✅
The #nzpol and #kikorangi feeds often follow similar themes, and I have often thought about the fact that a lot of what people want it already being offered, by the @greens.org.nz

Let us not say that state institutional arrangements are not without humour.

Why do interest rates matter so much? Because we have sky high levels of private debt. Interest rate changes move serious money flows from savers to spenders and back again. What a throughly stupid way to run an economy. (Ends)
