Seems to me Nicola Willis has some tasks relevant to her actual f’ing job as Finance Minister that she should be spending her time on, rather than a pointless debate with Ruth Richardson.

Looking at this thread and thinking of all the ways Cathedral Square in Christchurch could be brought back to life. It’s a wasteland for different reasons (earthquakes and the many ripple effects) but I wish the city would get it sorted.
Of all the things the US has chosen to do differently than the rest of the world, I think this may be the dumbest. You'd have trouble finding any urban neighborhood in Europe or Latin America without a plaza. It's just so basic. And yet the US has virtually none! No public space, no public.
Every neighborhood needs a leafy pedestrian plaza—a place to meet friends, grab a bite, or just relax.

A while back I wanted to generate less waste from Christmas. I started sewing gift bags from inexpensive fabric from Spotlight & ribbon from my stash.

For the most part, we use pencil to address gift tags and I just gather them up to re-use within the family each year.

We don’t use solely these

“In the new year, we’ll be launching our guide for GPs to help with the diagnosis, management, and treatment of Long Covid.”

This is good, it’s badly needed in NZ.

IMO this piece could’ve been stronger in its recs for prevention & more inclusive of other LC conditions, but I’m happy to see it.

The Labour Party that got gay marriage into legislation, passed the BDMRR and banned conversion therapy should be able to clearly defend their own record and stand up for the ideological vandalism conducted against trans dignity and the LGBTQI community. If it can't, what the fuck are you doing.

If Hipkins thinks trans kids, whose identities have been stripped from the sex ed curriculum, whose community events have been literally invaded by violent bigots, whose ability to access healthcare just got banned, aren't at risk now, what exactly is his definition of "at risk"
Hipkins response to me was basically, "we absolutely support trans people & will reverse it, but we don't want to start a culture war that would put trans kids at risk."

It doesn't make sense. WP has already started the war, TPM & the Greens response didn't start a flare up of hate afaik.
