“Covid testing has declined. We can therefore no longer be sure who has had Covid-19. That creates methodological problems…When very few people test, it becomes much harder to link symptoms to Covid-19”

Canadians deserve to have a say over if, how, and to what extent AI is part of our future. The government is only listening to industry voices and that needs to change.

That's why I'm participating in the People's Consultation on AI, and I *strongly* encourage you to do the same.

NVidia chief creep says resistance and scorn for AI have done a lot of harm. Good. Nice confirmation it's working. Keep it up. Although the main thing is this stuff is harmful crap so the mind and body tend to revolt against it automatically.

“AI as a successful technology relies on it delivering massive productivity gains” which means firing millions of workers.
“…Prime Minister Mark Carney is in a "massive conflict of interest" since he holds shares in a blind trust in a company, Brookfield, that is heavily invested in AI.”

Those in power/vying for it will never adjust systems & policies that benefit them. Don’t know how we vote ourselves out of this when politicians on “left” say they’ll bring social policies & tax rich, then ignore promises that got them elected. Mamdani is hope. Where’s hope in 🇨🇦?

1. This short thread is about the issue that dominates almost every aspect of politics, and causes or exacerbates most of our problems: the extreme wealth of a small number of people. Here’s the amazing thing: almost the entire political class aligns with the ultra-rich against the rest. 🧵1/10

We need public and city-owned grocery stores!
“In 2023, the Competition Bureau conducted a study into Canada’s grocery market, which concluded plainly that “Canada needs more grocery competition,” and that all levels of government “need to take steps to encourage and support” that outcome.” #cdnpoli

Hey friends, it's -15 degrees outside! In temps like this, exposed or improperly insulated skin can get frostbitten in as little as 10 minutes. Here's how you care for it if it happens.

First, you need to identify what level of frostbite you have!

More like George Orwell’s 1984.

Bored of peace,
freedom is slavery,
ignorance is strength,
reality is illusory.
Wait… is “Board of Peace” just a bad play on “Bored of Peace”?
Are we in the new Austin Powers movie?

I try to limit my online shopping as much as I possibly can for reasons like this. People keep telling me I’m extreme and ridiculous for being so cautious but I’m proven right eventually every time. EVERY. TIME.
PSA: If you have recently made a purchase from Canada Computers with a credit card, you will probably want to have that card cancelled.

i'm still pretty gobsmacked that public health officials, engineers, & building codes in the late 19-teens & 1920s took indoor air quality far more seriously than their 21st century counterparts in the COVID era (might as well start calling it an "era" now, ugh)

A decade of trans advocacy has taught me people believe lies because they want to, not because they don't know they are lies. They believe trans people will regret our transition because they want us to regret our transition. They believe we are a "social contagion" because that is how they see us

When we accepted the lie that Covid is no longer a threat without even questioning it, we opened the door for govts and these anti-science health “leaders” they appoint to continue The Great Culling.

Planning on going outside today? Wear the right gear to keep you warm, it’s -12°C and feels like -22 in Toronto 🥶
Planning on taking transit, then being inside public spaces all day? Wear the right gear like a K/N95 to keep you safe from viruses, it’s ‘Covid is high to severe season’ across Canada 😷
Covid is still here. Vax doesn’t prevent infection. Infection causes immune dysregulation making you vulnerable to other infections & vascular damage causing heart attack, stroke, organ damage, early dementia. N95 DOES prevent 🦠😷

The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization.

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.
