*sigh* kids, don't throw your garbage in the ocean, because then hapless sea urchins like this Toxopneustes will use their "collector behavior" to attach to protect from bright lights! www.inaturalist.org/observations...

I made this veggie 🥕 stew last night, yet I didn’t use a slow-cooker. It was really good, even my 6 ‘2 “ son liked it. (The two of us have been on a veg. Journey since June 1st 2025. ) #plantbaseddiet

Never lose sight of your privilege.
None of us control who we are born as.
Don’t let a quirk of fate fool you into thinking you are somehow superior to other humans.

Thrilled to see that COP30 has shifted into open conflict between the petrostates and the circa 80 countries, including Germany and the majority of European states, who are demanding a mechanism for phasing out fossil fuels be included in the outcome.

Holy shit this is hopeful!!

Agree. I strongly believe that using AI to summarize information is a strong form of outsourcing your thinking.

Summarization is crystallizing your thoughts, and -- at least for topics you are still trying to learn -- you can't afford to let an LLM do that in your stead.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Quite a metaphor. 👀

"The blaze [sent] panicked delegates racing to evacuate...rain from a torrential downpour leaked into the meeting spaces...There were complaints about food shortages, & the air-conditioning struggled to keep up with the high heat..."
Fire Breaks Out at COP30 Climate Talks in Brazil
Delegates were evacuated from the conference venue, where thousands from nearly 200 countries had gathered.

#scienceundersiege by plutocrats, pros, (the) press, propagandists, and the polluting petrostates.
It's actually amazing how well trust in science has held up (scientists are still more trusted than every profession in the US except the military!) given the huge amount of money and effort that's been spent trying to delegitimize it.

Nuance? I mean yeah I guess generative AI could be good if it didn't depend on stolen data and used an unsustainable amount of electricity that fucks up the environment and the result didn't fucking suck and also didn't also miss the whole point of art being derived from human skill and experience
"Surely there's a middle ground here?" The CEO of Helldivers 2 studio Arrowhead says people "jump to extreme takes" when debating generative AI, and that there needs to be more nuance in the discussion.
