People in vast numbers backed Trump knowing that he was a con man, a rapist, and a liar. They were perfectly OK with that. Musk still has his fanboys, sieg heils and white supremacism notwithstanding. A large swathe of the population are cunts, that's been the revelation of the past decade.

A beautiful article by @freshwaterhabitats.bsky.social on the critical importance of these delicate waters, and the work the Trust is doing to support them. A really lovely read:

It's been obvious for years that many social media accounts are foreign trolls. The tragedy has been the utter complacency about it. All an enemy had to do was tinkle a little bell and the dumb doggies would bark away at each other. Why bother with a nuclear arsenal?

C.S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley died on the same day - also the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Remembering the great C.S. Lewis who passed away on this day in 1963 aged just 64.
I read The Problem of Pain, A Grief Observed and Mere Christianity as a student. Incredible works.
RIP Clive Staples Lewis 🙏

He was a master at analysing many social ills.

"At least two thirds of our miseries spring from human stupidity, human malice, and those great motivators and justifiers of malice and stupidity, idealism, dogmatism and proselytizing zeal on behalf of religious or political idols."

Stop worrying about terraforming Mars and start preventing the venusification of Earth.
Humans will NEVER colonize another planet. Never.

If we can’t even agree to do the minimum to keep Earth habitable, there’s no way in hell we’ll cooperate to make another planet habitable.

"Soppy-stern" in a way that's reminiscent of the likes of Jonathan Aitken.

Sanctimonious beyond belief while espousing utterly morally repugnant views.

The kind of person for whom you'd predict a cocaine-and-hookers scandal at some future point.

The most amazing thing about Danny Kruger isn't that he holds these views. It's that he voluntarily expressed them to a journalist.

Mr Dunning was not available for comment.

This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

The tone of an organisation is set from the leader on down, and the tone of Keir Starmer's leadership has always been 'say it if it is convenient'.
The Home Secretary says "we have become the destination of choice in Europe, clearly visible to every people smuggler and would-be illegal migrant across the world"

That is a factually untrue claim: the Home Office shows that the UK is fifth, getting 1/10 claims, while Germany gets 1/5 claims

I'm starting to think the problem with these people is that they have a very poor grasp of the English language, which leads to a deficit around thinking and fundamental moral comprehension. In this instance, the word Bradley is failing to find is "slavery".

Or it could just be that they're cunts.
Watching the Mahmood announcement and debate. Tory backbencher (Karen Bradley) suggests putting refugees into debt and making them repay during the rest of their lives. Mahmood says she’ll think about it.
