A “citizen check”, 300+ miles from the nearest international border. We should remember that a foundational part of our political culture is shooting at government officials carrying out general warrants.
This woman is harder than goddamn steel dealing with these goddamn thugs. I want her to be my neighbor.

I was at the local playground with my kid a few weeks ago when a crew of winter break 13 year olds rolled up playing the first two seconds of that execrable “We Are Charlie Kirk” AI slop anthem on repeat, and it was wild to see the memory of the man reduced to its constituent atoms so quickly.
like if you’re only on this website, I don’t think you’re emotionally prepared for the tsunami of “Charlie Kirk as an e-girl/furry/piss-fetishist/esoteric Nazi alien” Content that is on the social media platforms young people actually use

Didn’t have “Jerome Powell tells the Trump admin to eat his ass and hair” on my 2026 bingo card.

“Void your bowels, not your warranty”

Ok, got the slogan. Now I just need to figure out what product it’s for.

It seems to me that one could, without any loss of fidelity, replace Thomas Chatterton Williams with a muppet in an ascot who only says “How dreadful!” and “What a kerfuffle!”

Maybe we can get the LLMs to do our arguing about LLMs for us

I think the most satisfying job at Whole Foods is probably hitting each apple with a ball peen hammer. Whoever pulls that shift has got to go home happy.

In case you needed some proof of what side these guys are on. Here's an ICE agent fist-bumping a right-wing pro-Trump content creator and letting him cross the line while they force us all back.

Look, you can just listen to all of Mannequin Pussy’s I Got Heaven and it might not fix everything but it’s a damn good album

Something to consider when the Trump admin tries to defend this as a law enforcement operation.
So we now appear to be up to at least 80 Venezuelans killed.

For an operation that anonymous admin officials said yesterday was"virtually flawless."

Look I just want the world to hold together long enough for me to grow old and dance to “DJ, Ease My Mind” by Niki & The Dove at a space rave at the automated assisted living facility, that’s all

Hey, so how many guys you think it’ll take to occupy a country that’s twice as big as Iraq and has about as many people as Texas
VP Delcy Rodriguez, whom Trump indicated earlier today was collaborating with the US government, is live on television right now.

Earlier reports that she's in Russia are false. She's in Caracas with the rest of the cabinet.

Rodriguez: "We will never again be a colony for any empire"

Folks are making fun of this, but I’ll note that a key part of modern warfighting is maintaining situational awareness during an operation. Having strategic leadership being able to see the racism dial in realtime and use that information to direct deployed operators is key to success.

Gonna be a fun trial, I guess

Glad to see Mamdani pivoting to the center with his second official act as Mayor. I don’t think this undoes the damage of his executive order requiring city employees to sing Pixel Grip’s “Alphapussy” when he enters the room, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Ok so why the fuck was I refreshing my memory of Hume’s theory of perceptions? I was gonna do something with this, right?

I tried this with the latest ChatGPT and it confabulated an “An-Meyer MAC” construction, then told me truncated SHA2 isn’t an instantiation of AMAC because that makes assumptions about the SHA2 compression function, etc. Very confident, very helpful, very verbose, very wrong.
I just asked Claude about AMAC, a PRF construction at the heart of Ed25519 with a security proof published almost ten years ago, and it had no idea what I was talking about. It gave me wildly incorrect (but confident!) answers until I just gave it the correct answer.
I would absolutely love a magic genie who I could bounce cryptography ideas off of, but the current products on offer all produce easily detectable levels of bullshit.

Even if Mamdani has the legal authority to do so, which I doubt, it’s still a huge waste of political capital and extremely hubristic that his first official act as Mayor was to make his walk-out song “Alphapussy” by Pixel Grip.

We made it through this year and it didn’t kill us all
When you get the reputation of being the guy with the encouraging words on New Year's Eve, it can start to come through as a little pressure -- what if the situation on the ground is worse than usual? what if people are more scared than they usually are, and with cause? what use are good vibes then?
