I see AI slop in anything, I instantly disregard the whole thing. It's like finding a slug in your salad. If you can't write without an LLM, or you can't source art that isn't genAI, you can't be trusted to do anything. Sorry. Absolute deal-breaker.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Read this, and invest in yourself by taking one of their courses.

I found the Complete CSS course essential, and I'm excited to start on one (or both) of the others before the year is up.
A bit of a vulnerable post by me but we need your help to get us through what has been a more difficult period than 2020.

It would be really appreciated if you could read and share in your networks too 💛

Unlike a lot of places in tech, my company, Set Studio/Piccalilli has no outside funding. Bootstrapped is what the LinkedIn people say, I think. It’s been a hard year this year. A very hard year...

What little CS knowledge I have was hard won over a long period of time. I still don't really care for it, except where it's pragmatic enough to help me make better decisions while I work.

If you have a similar background to me, this article is your shortcut to more intentional programming.
The majority of us are a bunch of self taught people with rather spotty knowledge and that's fine! Kilian (also self taught) is here to share some of the computer science fundamentals you probably are missing with the aim to improve your code in the long term.

I'm no longer going to use interstitial journalling in my daily notes from tomorrow onwards! This is a big, controversial decision for me, as I love to have timestamps next to everything I do, but the pressure of having to record everything accurately is too frictional.

Now we can say "Scientific research has shown that accessibility overlays are ineffective."

On this recommendation, I switched to Niri and I love it so far! Spent far too long tinkering with the lock and idle aspects of it, but I now have it pretty close to perfect.

There's been endless talk about an AI bubble, but less about exactly how, why, and how much it's a bubble. So I turned to the framework put forward by scholars Brent Goldfarb and David A. Kirsch, authors of "Bubbles and Crashes," for assessing tech bubbles.

Just learned of Hyprland's history of toxicity via the Framework controversy and now considering switching to something like SwayWM. I'd just got Hyprland set up perfectly but it shouldn't be too much work to mirror that setup in Sway.

Inspired somewhat by this episode and @hypervisible.blacksky.app's ideas of #LuxurySurveillance in general, I sold my Garmin watch and I feel so much freer already!
Meta and Google want to free you from screens — by putting one in front of your eyes at all times.

This week @hypervisible.blacksky.app joins @parismarx.com to discuss the anti-social world they’re trying to create through mass adoption of smart glasses.
