A lot of people made fun of Bush dancing with the West African Dance Company—and sure, it's funny—but this was good.

The thing they hate isn't that a Spanish homage to pan-Americanism, or likewise a show centered on black culture last year, isn't that it's somehow foreign. They hate that it highlights how not foreign it is, it's deeply embedded and immediately culturally legible to Americans as part of our story.

Earlier today, I got the chance to see the Charli XCX film The Moment.
I thought it was alright. I liked a lot of the clever mockumentary ideas that were present, especially being a big fan of brat, though it seemed rather uneven, like something directed with less experience. Still, I enjoyed it.

Just watched THX 1138 with @banditloaf.wcnews.com and some other friends. I liked this one a lot. I was especially fond of the 1971 futuristic sleekness, and heavy bulky computer shots, and the "show, don't tell" style of film, though I can see why it took a while to get broad appreciation.
