The Washington Post cuts are devastating. Washington, DC, locals deserve to have dedicated journalists looking out for the public interest in their backyard. Jeff Bezos clearly doesn't give a shit about that. But it seems he doesn't care about the paper's national significance, either.

3 yrs ago I started writing a book that is in stores TODAY. It's narrative nonfiction, anti-fascist spy thriller set in Trump era. It's timely as hell & I'm proud of it.

A thread of what people are saying abt it & why I hope you'll help make it a bestseller www.simonandschuster.com/books/To-Cat...

The budget deal in Congress will give ICE another $10 BILLION.

Absolutely not.

ICE is out of control. We must stop this rogue agency’s dangerous abuses of power, not bankroll it.

"Anti-immigration enforcement" is rather biased and a mouthful besides.

Just say "human rights."

There are a lot of people like this in first and second generation communities and BlueSky is often very uncomfortable acknowledging this.

If I were Iceland, I'd be at least a little worried.
Asked the White House for clarification just in case this isn't a mistake and Iceland is now on America's annexation hit list.
Trump is now confusing Greenland and Iceland: "They're not there for us on Iceland, that I can tell you. Our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland. So Iceland has already cost us a lot of money."

This is so concerning, because it suggests that the car has to hit the wall, since no one will tap the brakes.
The stock market, the news media, the Democratic Party, the entire rest of the world. All seem to be just going along with business as usual, as if none of this is happening, or none of it is that bad. Does nobody else notice the blithering madman? Is nobody else worried about this?

This is a good illustration of how people who knew this was going to happen have basically no access to the media that reaches most people in the US. We're working the informed fringe.
Enten on Trump's deportation program: "These numbers have completely flipped. This was such a strength for the president. It was +18 at the beginning of his presidency -- one of the most popular things in his agenda. But there's been over a 25 point switcheroo . Now the program is underwater at -8."
