My kids, when they were little, got into a YouTuber called SS Sniper Wolf. Obviously, that got a strong negative reaction from me. But according to her, she didn’t know that the SS existed or that the idea of a Sniper Wolf would be an easy fit with their ideology.

That is right. There is a y in vacay. All of you people who keep saying you are taking off on a Spanish cow need to be stopped.

I was just thinking that it isn’t fair that there is a Lincoln Center and a Kennedy Center but no Garfield Center or McKinley Center. But then I looked, and I was wrong: there is a Garfield Center for the Arts. It’s in Maryland.

To be clear, it is really fucking hard. That said, you wouldn’t have to do it at every polling place, more like 20 or 30 key polls each in a dozen or so targeted districts, and the parties know which those are just as a part of the regular business of politics. But still would be a big lift.
Not really, man. How hard is it to park a truckful of guys in tactical gear at the entrance to every voting location?

For the “only talk about affordability” caucus, please please recognize that the American people are capable of a political and moral conscience. Put away your contempt and follow them.

It is probably already too late for removing Trump to save our reputation abroad.
YouGov is out with a new poll after ICE killed another person in Minnesota today. Abolishing ICE is now +5 among all adults, and **+12 among independents**

Further: the legislation abolishing ICE and CBP must recognize that they acted as enemies of the United States and the Constitution in violation of their oaths and every ICE or CBP officer is disqualified from ever holding any federal position ever again under the 14th amendment.
Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

How are we losing to people who are so stupid? They are cruel and evil and dangerous but in some ways it is most galling that they are consistently so fucking stupid.
He's finally done it. He's posted something that will make my three year old daughter more angry than me.

Given that “two weeks” is Trump code for “never,” I guess he gave up on the Greenland thing?

Total unreliability is, I suppose, a kind of a virtue when everything you want to do is either stupid, evil, or both.
Trump on Greenland: “We’ll have something in two weeks. There a good spirit to get something done. And we have to have a strong freedom.” (Speaking to reporters on Air Force One.)

What a weird thing for a prosecutor to say. I mean, yes, Bovino is a huge threat to American communities, but supposedly he is the victim in this case. Why would you remind the jury in the town being threatened what a piece of shit he is? Is he lowkey looking for jury nullification?

It is extremely ungentlemanly for Virginians to vote for public officials they prefer, in defiance of the feelings of people who moved there to institute a fascist state.

It really bothers me that the entire political class seems unable to believe that Americans have the capacity to care about human rights, or human dignity, or constitutional government. They all seem convinced that the only thing Joe and Jane America cares about is consumer prices.

I actually know how, because I met Neil Armstrong once and made a point of not asking about the moon because I thought, “this guy is probably sick of everyone asking him about the moon.”

And now I really regret it, because I could have heard about the moon from Neil Armstrong but now he’s dead.
How? This is like the moon not coming up in a conversation with Buzz Aldrin.

They have been looking for their own Horst Wessel for a long time. They clearly thought it would be Charlie Kirk for a while, but he had too much dirt on him and also had too many enemies on the right.

Yes, obviously he needs to die for the good of humanity, and I hope it hurts. But just as likely he decided partway fuck Europe and just went home. Or he remembered that they have an international criminal court over there and maybe he shouldn’t go where he might get snatched.

Considering that the President of the United States has been open about his international crimes, and has also been effectively declaring himself to be an enemy of Europe, and Europe has an international criminal court, and he is about to go to Europe to pick fights with everyone…

I’m saying. The Gestapo analogue is the elements of DoJ being sent specifically after Comey, James, etc.

The job of using essentially random violence to cow the general population into acquiescence is a different job to specifically targeting individuals who are regarded as threats to the regime.
I actually agree that calling ICE the Gestapo is inaccurate, because the Gestapo was far more sophisticated.

ICE is much more like the Sturmabteilung (SA): violent, racist, fat, poorly educated and undisciplined thugs too stupid to do anything other than random street-level terror.

The problem with this article is that it presents Shapiro standing up to antisemitism on the right as if it was a brave stand and only the failure to strongly stand by it was a moral failure. That is just wrong.
MAGA’s Jewish intellectuals “lent their prestige” to the movement, “certain the hateful rhetoric was meant for someone else”—but “now that it has landed on them, they want credit for noticing the stench,” Franklin Foer argues:
Pity the Jewish Intellectuals of MAGA
The nascent effort to contain the spread of anti-Semitism is years overdue.

What does this buy her? Will Trump order the military and IC to plan a coup to put her in power (a thing he seems only not to be doing out of pique about the Nobel) in return for a hunk of gold and a little personal debasement? Seems possible. And can’t feel great, but Paris is worth a mass.

The Venezuelan opposition leader said she "presented" the award to Trump, but did not say whether he accepted it.

People are comparing ICE to the Gestapo, but we should be careful of lazy Nazi allusions. It is ridiculous to call ICE the Gestapo. The Gestapo was much more professional and targeted. ICE isn’t even the SS.
January 10, 2026 at 7:24 PM
Another way of putting it: MAGA does not believe that the state has a monopoly on the legitimate use of violence. Instead, it believes that its movement, sometimes through state actors, sometimes through private citizens, does.
Trump Has Odd Views on Domestic Terrorism
The president seems to think that beating police officers is “peaceful,” but attempting to flee from them is terrorism.
