"[T]he 'winner-take-all' system used in most U.S. elections... contributes to polarization.... By contrast, proportional systems allow more voters to see their preferences reflected in Congress, can reduce partisan divides, and virtually eliminate gerrymandering."

If the regime does go after DSA, the appropriate response will be for as many people as possible to become dues-paying members.

Jonathan Choe to Trump: "Another group right now that is behind antifa and working with antifa very closely based on the research that we have right now that we're gonna give to you and your team are the Democratic Socialists of America."

Politico is terrible. But Porter's behavior is very shitty here. Also tripping out on the people who are saying, "Who fucking cares? Trump is a rapist!" She's not Democratic nominee for anything. There are other choices and some probably have better judgement than to verbally abuse staff on camera.

I appreciate where Prop 50 is coming from, I personally will vote for it. But it really is NOT "proportional representation." If @cademocrats.bsky.social are really interested in #ProportionalRepresentation let's talk about how to do that! @prorepcoalition.bsky.social

Here's what Prop 50 really is:
→ TEMPORARY emergency maps that expire in 2030
→ FAIR and proportional representation
→ A direct response to Trump & Republicans’ power grab

Trump is rigging next year's elections, and California can stop him. Vote YES on Prop 50! Vote early cadem.org/voter-resources/

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that

I hadnt heard about how Amtrak would be affected. I take it still running, bc it would be pretty catastrophic if not in some places. But are they affected in other ways?

Hmm... maybe is was the word "stupid"? I replaced with "terrible" and it seems to have posted now. But by "terrible" I mean it fucking sucks ass.

Hey there @sacbeeeditboard.bsky.social @sacbee.com Can you tell me why my comment on your editorial about Prop 50 violates your community standards? (Especially compared to some of the other comments on there?) If you really believe "We could fix this" why not listen to some other ideas?

Is fusion voting that good actually? It seems like it's just formalizing the kind of strategic voting we have to do now. I just worry about putting a lot of energy into fusion for not a lot of payoff.

"60 votes are needed" Nope. The filibuster is just a Senate rule. The majority can change rules when it suits their purposes. (As GOP did last month on nominees.) Republicans can pass whatever they want on their own, and deal with the consequences. They choose not to. They chose the shutdown.

Here it is: THE CATCH!

Every summer through fall, under a causeway near Sacramento, California, over a half million Mexican free-tailed bats roost.

At dusk they leave to feed on the nearby farm fields.

I've been going to watch them for over 3 years, and I finally got a solid capture on video. 🪶 🧵
