yeah afaik you can avoid them swallowing dirt when eating by placing their food items on a ceramic tile (for slow moving bugs and veggies or whatever) and in a dish with higher sides ( for fast guys and crickets)

have been desperately looking for this old erotic Spanish comic I stumbled on almost 10 years ago called "El secreto de Frankenstein" and I'm so happy to report I finally found it
