THE FEELING WHEN you see that you might have to do more than the bare minimum in order to hold the line.

It's not lost yet. Keep it up!

I published my #NaNoGenMo entry today, and got the coveted green "completed" label.

I learned some #Rust.

I worked out my ideas on parse tree rewriting.

I only implemented a toy example. Implementing all the ideas *while* learning a new language would've been too much.

To each their own, of course: the "fingerprints of its creator" is not at all what makes a work of art beautiful to me.

A work by Sophie Tauber-Arp (or anyone else) is beautiful because of its composition&execution, not because it's by Sophie Tauber-Arp (or anyone else).

Just my opinion of course.
I love how every artist has a different style that's wholly and uniquely them. even if ppl draw in the same general style, there's still just ✨something✨ about it that has the fingerprints of its creator and I think that's part of what makes art so beautiful

A mystic is free to locate love outside the existential maze. A materialist has no such luxury.

But even if you're forced to admit that love is a drug, not essentially different from any other drug - you can still hold the opinion that love is the *best* drug.

idk but I'm a lot less worried about the USA now than I was in the summer.

The administration'll still do everything it can (deny, bully, lie, cheat, etc) to cling to power. So people still need to be prepared for that.

But it feels like they're on the back foot now.

He knows it's all falling apart. This is a clear reaction to that. He's going to be lashing out more and more as things get worse and worse for him. As I said in a previous post, it's called an 'extinction burst'...and it's happening now in real time.

I couldn't figure this one out until I translated it to:

"You wouldn't say it's elitist to read the spec of the programming language you claim to be a programmer of"

And I don't know if I've heard those actual *words*, but I believe I have been in the presence of that attitude more than once
I sympathise with the frustration at a certain flavour of TTRPG fans claiming it's elitist to learn the rules of the game you're playing, but I have to laugh at analogies like "you wouldn't say it's elitist to watch a TV show you claim to be a fan of"; people in TV show fandoms 100% do say that.

Others turn their attention to questions like, what does it mean to be the BEST artist. What does that even mean
I think most artists hit a point where they’re like, well if I can’t be the best artist, I shall be the most ME artist.

When your function is to go up on stage and go "ooga booga" to your audience of broken-brains, does it matter if you understand how insurance works or not? It does not.

For #NaNoGenMo this year I decided to try to write a generator in Rust, with the goal of learning #Rust.

Why? Because, umm... one questionable idea deserves another?

Where are the high-key debunkings of "SNAP was being given away willy-nilly under Biden" and "The law prevents funding SNAP under shutdown"?

These need to be waved in MAGAs face.

You'd have to be a real monster to support SNAP removal knowing these things are false, and people *know* it.
MAGA folks are claiming that Trump can’t fund SNAP even if he wants to because it’s against the law.

First, no it’s not.

Second, he’s a 34 time convicted felon. He was found liable for sexual assault. He’s been murdering people in the Caribbean.

Don’t pretend he cares about the law.

I now see this as similar to the tariffs.

All whip, no carrot, "the market will adapt". Ayn Rand invisible hand type stuff.

I don't think the administration actually holds these economic theories so much as they're appealing to a base who do.
They're in it for the cruelty. Eliminate the parasites!
I’ve never seen an American elected official fight so hard to starve people.
