I would add that emotional stakes are the only ones that matter. oh, the world is ending?? nobody gives a shit, man. that's too big for people to even contemplate. you can have that, but you have to back it up with human-level stuff, like "my dog is dying and you're wasting my last hours with him"
A good thing about AI slop like the Cruise/Pitt fight thing is that it highlights just how repetitive and soulless MANY movie fight scenes are. They might as WELL be slop.
Some top-of-my-head things to keep in mind to make your fights human:

NEW: The ICE killing of Alex Pretti, the second in Minneapolis, prompts quick legal action.

After ICE agents killed Alex Pretti on Saturday, lawyers responded quickly — leading to one TRO issued before the night's end aimed at preserving evidence of the killing.

beyond words to express how much i hate this... looks like "AI summary" not the author's written abstract is displayed by default for all ACM digital library publications. i, for one, didn't ask for it and hate it to my core

Just thinking about a film my teacher showed us in elementary school where a little kid hits a baseball that accidentally beans a woman and KILLS her, and how I assumed that was a thing a child was capable of for years

movie secret agents are unhinged for setting their computers so that when they plug in a thumb drive, every single frickin file opens itself in a separate window

The move towards male/female essentialism in ‘progressive spaces’ is doing a lot of damage. You do not have a right to comfort in public spaces if the only source of your discomfort is someone existing and going about their business. That’s prejudice, not progressivism or safety.

When you go to protests you’re going to encounter some corny and cringe people you’re not fully aligned with in various ways and I think that’s OK and not something to get Yosemite Sam mad about.
seeing some centrists complaining about "internet leftists" and inferring that "winemoms" outnumbered them at the rallies today, can you stop making this all about you man? The people, united, etc
