Did you know that way back in 1962 Big Oil bragged about the fact that they could melt 7 million tons of a glacier every day

They knew they were destroying our climate back in 1962
We are just beginning to pay the price as Big Oil profit $2.8 billion every single day as Earth #climate collapses

Episode 291 High tide turning (49 minutes *sleep safe*)

The waves settle into wavelets.
The wavelets settle to calm.
Then it's just the pure sound of estuary emptiness, at night.

It's still a shock to find a new PFAS forever chemical hotspot, even when it's inevitable. A bit of digging around paper mills, which often use PFAS, revealed the banned carcinogen PFOS at levels as high as 3,000ng/l in groundwater in south Cumbria

Palantir, a US spy-tech firm, has been given access to millions of NHS patient records.

Its founder has said the NHS should be 'ripped up'.

Join me in calling on the government to end the dangerous Palantir contract.

Pretty much sums it up. And it wouldn’t be that hard to change it, if we actually wanted to. Just taking action on better, well understood choices. That’s what history, and every generation to come, will remember about us.
The only biosphere in the known universe capable of supporting human life is being turned into a hell planet because most of Earth's governments refuse to stop trying to satisfy the insatiable greed of a plutocracy composed of people who already have more money than they could spend in 20 lifetimes.
Point of no return: a hellish ‘hothouse Earth’ getting closer, scientists say
Continued global heating could set irreversible course by triggering climate tipping points, but most people unaware

Across the Irish countryside, hedgerows are constantly being annihilated.

So often, these are the last wildlife refuges in a landscape denuded of habitat.

Just where is nature supposed to go?

Sometimes very hard not to feel like the rest of the country has abandoned Minnesota. We STILL have ICE everywhere. Our schools, businesses, and economy are in profound crisis. But without Bovino here throwing tear gas, much of the country seems to not care at all what’s being done to us.

People ask me "why kelp is important". There's not enough space for all the reasons here but big reasons are that kelp can grow faster than any other any species fixing CO2, providing shelter and food. Urchins eat kelp plus they're "messy" eaters so they feed other species nearby.

Honeybee hives, especially in urban areas, are mostly *harmful* to nature - and it's rather like promoting chicken factory farms to help us connect with wild birds. When will we become more nature-literate?
