Like a home, if you don’t invest for a year or two you can get away with it. Don’t do it for decades and the roof risks falling in ie you’ve undermined growth

Rightly lots of debates about growth this weekend - rightly because it was low productivity growth that saw wages entirely flatline during the 2010s.

Brexit the Elephant decided to stand on the despatch box to see if Rachel Reeves would notice him as she read out her budget.

“I reckon she knows I’m here”.

“But they’re still pretending I’m not, though”, he lamented.

As predicted by HM Treasury in 2018 but dismissed as "Project Fear". PS: The major point of Brexit for its US RW funders was to cut the UK off from the EU and make it more vulnerable to US exploitation (e.g. privatizing NHS).

Not even a year and they've committed war crimes, while Trump keeps freeing hardened criminals from prison.

Everyone who voted for this abomination is responsible.

The wholesale murder of people in international waters, without due process, is a crime.

If left unchecked, it will lead to more such crimes.

This is how things work.

Letting them get away with it is the same as giving them permission to keep doing it.

Nigel Farage’s Legacy — Brexit: the trillion pound ‘mistake’

The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)… confirms the Treasury’s 2016 analysis, claiming a relative fall in GDP of between 6% and 8%.

Brexit: the trillion pound ‘mistake’
The recent NBER report suggests the Treasury’s 2016 analysis – slammed by Brexiters as a ‘hoax’– actually understated the impact of Brexit

Oh lookie here, a fellow poster just posted this, Rachel Reeves did not lie. The media obviously didn't spot this or didn't put 2 and 2 together when working themselves up into a frenzy claiming she did, their outrage is falling apart like a cheap suit.

Hey @skynewsrss.bsky.social when you've finished passing the smelling salts around required because of your faux outrage about the Chancellor, pass these three wee snippets onto your journalists, particularly Rigby and Phillips, ta.

Rather than indulging Chris Mason’s excitable juggling with real and imagined lies from all corners of the political circus, it’s a relief to read Faisal Islam for a plausible version of the truth.

The BBC should give him far, far more headroom for pieces like this:

Misleading the public by omission is also an issue.
Farage and Badenoch persistently fail to acknowledge the huge economic harm of #Brexit to the public finances.
That particular black hole is estimated to be worth £50 billion (OBR) up to £90 billion (NBER).

Can someone tell these useless b*stards that the election won't be until 2028/9 no matter what bollocks they make up between now and then and that it will be called by whoever is the LABOUR PM at the time, not by Nigel Fartage or Chris 'someone lied to be so I shit myself' Mason
Dear Hacks,

Neither the Chancellor of the Exchequer nor the Prime Minister’s credibility are not in question. Collectively, you on the other hand have further trashed your believability ratings. Resign

As for the cabinet minister briefing that they’ve been misled, you are duty bound to resign.

Who benefits from changes made in this budget?

Low-income families with children, particularly with three or more children, are clear winners.

In 2028-29, a low-wage single parent with 3 children who receives UC will be £4,960 per year better off, thanks to the removal of the two-child limit.

#Tories still suffering with tunnel vision & selective memories.?

Anyone got the phone number for the BBC, Guardian, Sky News et al's unnamed sources hotline. We should make up a nonsense story every day just for larks, think that's what passes for journalism these days. I'll start, Farage is renaming Reform Party Ltd the Reject Party Ltd.

The media are still in a frenzy claiming the Chancellor lied to the country. Dear reader, it was the media who lied to the country based on speculation, unnamed sources and their interpretation of what was actually said pre budget. They were left with red faces and this is their revenge.

Is Farage still facing scrutiny over his partner’s £885k Frinton home.

Is it aggressive tax avoidance? Has he misled voters? Where’s the transparency? What’s happening?

Just asking questions.
