It seems like this 50 year mortgage thing is spiritually similar to the UKs “leasehold” property buying, where you “buy” but the landowner’s family gets the property back after 100 years. Dynasty protection.

There is an Assyrian Church of the East Cathedral-Mar Gewargis (Saint George)-one block east of me. In late 2014-2015, when I was an election judge, it was the polling place for my precinct. So, I got to spend some time in the building and learn a bit about that church.
