too bad there isn't a "like to to the power of 100" button. I would so use it for this post!
Alas, let alone stupid RFK Jr, way too many times I hear colleagues saying this in talks. It always makes me so sad.

same, but terrified for my son

And I challenge you to find a good pair of ethical shoes anyway

We call this "the scientific method" 🙂

Ideally, one should get biopsies from each tissue and study them separately, but heart and brain are obviously a no go. Liver can be biopsied but it's very invasive. Maybe muscle and fat? Also invasive but less than liver, and at least it would be a start!
dadapisconti.bsky.social
Typically we say that the most metabolically active organs/tissues are the heart, liver, muscle and brain. But I would say that we shouldn't forget about fat either. All if them are dumping their metabolic products into the blood so it's hard to know who is doing exactly what.
dadapisconti.bsky.social
These are the typical findings of ME/CFS plasma metabolomics that I was referring to earlier. One of the problems with this type of assays is that we don't actually know which tissues/organs could be contributing the differences.
dadapisconti.bsky.social
You're incredibly smart and have drawn the right conclusion from your observations. I can assure you, only about 5% of my biochemistry college students could have mustered such amazing scientific thinking. You have a talent, I wish you were my student, I am sure you would do great!

How do you know yours are broken?

And I suppose Apple juice works great for you because is very sugary but also hydrating at the same time. It makes sense.
dadapisconti.bsky.social
What do you mean by "feed the crash", exactly?
dadapisconti.bsky.social
This is so interesting and I didn't know it is so common amongst ppl with lived experience. Is this something well known amongst physicians too?

Me to my 3.5-year old son: Look Nico, it's full moon tonight, isn't it beautiful?

Nico: no, I am scared

Me: why are you scared?

Nico: because it has red eyes

Me: 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️
dadapisconti.bsky.social
I am not sure there is a clear shift to Warburg effect in ME/CFS, at least not clear for the cell types/tissues that would matter the most (muscle and brain). But it would make a lot of sense, it and it would be consistent with some of the plasma metabolomics findings too.

Do you remember anyone finding mitochondrial uncoupling (amongst the many types of mitochondrial dysfunction people have found) in ME/CFS? That could explain both the fatigue and the fever upon "usage"

Oh, say, can you see? 🥰

This is what's it's about.

Representing, and being accessible through service.

Thank you AOC for doing the right thing by those students.

A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down.

All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown.

So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!

Every major Democrat has millions in their campaign account. The threat to democracy is big enough that we need to be funding mobilization and messaging right now - not just banking money for the next election.

If we don't build right now, there might not be another election.

scoop: Sen Chris Murphy is donating 100k from his political fund to Indivisible — the latest in a series of donations he says total ~1m to progressive organizing groups taking on the Trump admin

Murphy said fellow Dems should take notes to “meet the moment”

When I was at NIH and shutdowns loomed, it was discovered that the administration was planning to shut down PubMed. The head of NCBI called the powers that be and pointed out that this would threaten patient safety

Who knows what will happen now

Just in case, remember Euruope-PMC

Oh, aren't those adjusted p-values (as in, corrected for multiple comparisons)?
dadapisconti.bsky.social
Holy-smolly, did you notice how exceptionally high the -Log(p) of HTT is? I honestly don't know what to make of that! Maybe I could start by reading the whole paper... thanks for sharing!
