One CEO called the idea a “disgusting insult” and “economic genocide against the Gen Z generation.” 👀

My wife and I pay for life insurance even though we have never died. I pay for fire insurance even though my house has never burned down. That's not because we want to throw money at insurance companies. It's because THAT'S HOW INSURANCE WORKS.

Hard to understand the Democrats' decision to cave, ending the shutdown for what?

On the upside, it is clear that there needs to be a generational change in Democratic leadership, new candidates, and new voices in the party...for the good of the country and, importantly, the people.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

This is a bad deal, and the old way of doing things is clearly not working.

We need new leaders in the Senate.

It’s weird for Republicans to say out loud that Charlie Kirk’s murder should have helped them win elections.

It’s fucking weird.

The difference in the monthly payment between a 30 v 50 year $300,000 mortgage at 6% interest is $223.34/mo.

The difference in total interest paid to the bank is $297,672 -more for the bank for the 50-year mortgage.

Ultimately, who comes out ahead? The consumer or the bank?

A 50 year mortgage would be just great for the banks. We'd all pay more for the same amount of house, and banks would reap the profits.

This is not the way to make buying a house affordable. Building more housing and paying a livable wage will benefit everyone except banks and their shareholders.

Senate Dems, do not cave. Ensuring healthcare premiums don’t surge is an 80-20 issue. They want to gut the ACA because their disdain for Obama far outweighs their concern for anyone’s health.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

Healthcare costs for Americans, food for children, and the economy/jobs are looking bleak. The government shut down, and the President is leading us where?

Who will step up for the American people? We need a genuine, engaged, and energetic "leader" right now.

Let this sink in. The President of the United States is now appealing a court order forcing him to feed starving children.

If taxpayers are asked to bail out the AI firms, whose stock has been "shorted" (The Big Short) recently.

Wouldn't Congress need to be called back into session to do that? Epstein? End of government shutdown? Maybe the markets drive the compromise?

The entire right-wing propaganda machine came after Zohran Mamdani.

The president and his allies came after him.

Democratic leaders, by and large, did not have his back until the last minute.

He still won, turning out historic numbers and inspiring young voters.

His politics can win anywhere.

Beshear: Let me be clear. The president has both the funding and the authority to fund snap during a shutdown. In fact, every other president in every other shutdown has done so. People going hungry in this instance is a choice that this president has made.

ah, perhaps instead of pumping millions into endless factional infighting Dem donors could invest in making local Dem organizations genuine civic spaces that can reach people during and between elections

Good morning- it's a good day. Democracy prevailed yesterday in a big way; I like to think nobody lost or was beaten. But, a few states' voters demonstrated no fear, spoke with a loud voice, and the candidates elected have vowed to work for all, not just a few, as it should be in the USA.
