“Betcha cant avoid self harm” was useful for a while but it only works within a very specific window of unwellness (unwell enough to need it, but well enough to still be defiant about what others tell you is possible)

would recommend if you’re 100% sure you fall within that window but not otherwise
“take a swig every time you catch someone nodding off”
“take a swig every time the nurse asks you if you’re okay”
“take a swig every time you talk shit about yourself”
“take a swig every time you won’t stop riding my dick about making healthier choices”

etc.

one of the best things that happened to me in the last few years was incentivizing myself to implement healthy habits by contextualizing them as silly bits. biggest example is taking my bro to chemo appointments and playing drinking games (with water) to remind each other to stay hydrated

it’s 2026 and i’m trying to figure out and use new rules of etiquette on social media that allow me to manage:

- how addicting this shit is
- how much worse it makes me
- how much worse it makes society
- lack of trust that anything said is by a person, who is honest, and acting in good faith

your “sneak peak” is finding your christmas gifts on dec 23. my sneak peak is when i bring candied sweet potatoes to christmas dinner and everyone’s surprised i outclassed mom’s recipe, which i’ve been secretly practicing and improving for years. we are not the same.
We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps:

- It’s ‘voilà,’ not ‘wallah!’
- It’s ‘a lot,’ not ‘alot.’
- It’s ‘further ado,’ not ‘farther adieu.’
- It’s ‘flesh out,’ not ‘flush out.’
- It’s ‘sneak peek,’ not ‘sneak peak.’

No worries if not!!!

the real game is to find uses for all the phrases on the right. i can think of some for the last 3 but i need to think on wallah and alot

This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

checked Karlie Chirk into the building where i worked once

it was a very normal check-in. checked the id, checked my guest list, called his host, asked him to wait. i recognized him but didn’t mention it bc i couldn’t remember anything positive to talk to him about
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Please Quote this with your most minor celebrity interaction

i think what gets overlooked is that part of the humor and charm of edits like these is that you're perfectly aware that someone sat down and spent their own time making it. they chose to do something cool or silly or stupid or genius, regardless of the results

that human element elevates the work
Who needs AI when we had stuff like this? I’ll take photoshop edits over the slop any day

We need more deciding collectively what our goals are and less being told some solution is the answer to problems we are told we have.

Some people in music never got this memo. They move as if anyone who they don't percieve to be a "name" is just a potential fan/customer, and are done talkin to you soon as someone "notable" enters the room, seemingly unaware that this affects their rep more than their musical prowess can cover for.
Just gonna say this again for games sphere cus we get the same question:

Networking doesn't mean schmoozing up to famous people, it means making friends with your peers. Then in 10 years, 20, one of you might be famous? And sure you're still helping each other cus well yeah friends.

Make. Friends.
Talking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.

The point of writing crap is not that you should barf out anything.

It's that you should be aware as you are writing it what the flaws are, and you need to get through it the first time, because the act of doing so informs you what is wrong.

The entire time I was writing it I was like "oh my god this sucks, I suck, this is terrible" and I was making a list of all the ways it sucked.

That was NECESSARY to the fixing of the goddamn thing.

also i’m watching emmet otter’s jugband christmas and this 100% applies to the riverbottom nightmarr band lmao

their flow is so wack and borderline cringe (as someone who thinks plenty of muppet music is genuinely sublime) but they do rock so fkn hard
many such cases

anything by Boston oh my god

and i love them so much, but the gulf between their vocals and instrumentals is insane (and consistent, afaict)

Everyone sat around talking about how these people were incredibly stupid and then they managed to successfully implement large swathes of the plan that they all told us they were going to execute and you really have to wonder who is the stupid in this equation
