The Lords is a massive problem. How can a supposedly advanced country still be maintaing a veritably feudal upper house where you can't get rid of members.

It's absolutely insane.
The government has:
1. Referred Mandelson to the police for investigation over leaking sensitive information while in government
2. Decided it *will* try to strip Mandelson of his peerage after all.

That’s both throwing him under the bus and then reversing to make sure in one fell swoop.

The European Commission said on Tuesday it would investigate Mandelson, who was European trade commissioner from 2004-8 before leaving early to return to UK politics.

Mandelson draws a pension from his time there and has to adhere to a code of conduct for former staff.

DHS said that the woman CBP shot in the chest in Portland was “involved” in a gang shooting.

Her ~involvement~ was that suspected gang members sexually assaulted and robbed her.
After Border Patrol shot two people in Portland, DHS claimed they were "vicious gang members" tied to a past shooting.
