NEW: this is how the US press would report on this if it was happening in a ‘shithole country’. It’s an execution. But it also reveals how weak Trump really is

I first noticed @marisakabas.bsky.social's byline a few years ago, when she interviewed the Kansas editor whose home was raided by cops.

I don't know of any independent, solo journalist who does--as she did here--more actual reporting, as contrasted to bullshitting, about big news events.

New — I wrote about ChongLy Scott Thao, the elderly Hmong American wrongly arrested and forced out of his home by ICE in his underwear during the punishing Minnesota winter, what witnesses saw, and DHS's racist claim that he fit the description of another Asian man they were looking for.

My story:
Behind the disturbing image of ICE snatching a half-naked, elderly Hmong American from his home
DHS has claimed without evidence that they were looking for someone else when they took ChongLy Scott Thao.

We really are sliding back into a spoils system and it keeps expanding. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that lobbyists close to Trump are charging roughly $1 million (sometimes several million more)

I feel the need to apologize and repudiate everything Trump has spewed about Somalis and Haitians. It's plain racist and sadistic.

And now it's going to overtime 🙀
Los Angeles, CA -

LAPD has commanded The Douglas, the nearest bar to Dodger Stadium to turn off the televisions. They are now calling unlawful assembly, though as far as I can tell the only signs of anything are people on the sidewalk. It is the 9th inning.

Also inexcusable
“Immigration officials have deported a father living in Alabama to Laos despite a federal court order blocking his removal from the US on the grounds he has a claim to citizenship, the man’s attorneys said on Tuesday.”

Inexcusable
Absolutely
"According to his running club, the man, who is a U.S. citizen, was returning from a team run when agents pulled him out of his vehicle, tackled him to the ground and kneeled on top of him, allegedly breaking six ribs and causing internal bleeding"

Little known (at least seldom reported) fact - the US murdered the rest of them.
Breaking News: The Trump administration has decided to repatriate two survivors of a deadly U.S. strike this week on suspected drug runners in the Caribbean Sea rather than prosecute them or hold them in military detention, people with knowledge of the matter said on Saturday.
U.S. to Repatriate Survivors of Its Strike on Suspected Drug Vessel
The U.S. military rescued the two men in the Caribbean Sea after Special Operations forces fired on a semi-submersible that was assessed to be smuggling drugs.

But under the false claim of an “energy emergency,” Trump’s Interior Department, currently being run by a former Musk staffer, is abusing emergency procedures meant for real disasters like wildfires to greenlight the Velvet-Wood uranium and vanadium mine. No environmental assessment.
