🤔️What about the rest of the rail network? Nothing for most other lines yet. The Tunnel frees up capacity - there's a clear opportunity for State Government to fund more trains more often across the network.

Melbourne’s rail overhaul - Timetable rethink gets mixed reviews | 7NEWS
Without the fanfare of the grand Metro Tunnel opening, the Allan government has quietly released the much-anticipated new timetable for Melbourne's train network today, and it is getting mixed reviews. The Metro Tunnel timetables have been published... it's a big boost for some stations, trains doubling in frequency in some cases. This is a good start at providing a frequent network across more of #Melbourne. State govt needs to keep the upgrades coming.

Wasn't feeling great about buying a new joystick for $90, then I realised the one I bought back in the day cost me $30 in circa 1985 dollars... which is about $105 now.
... okay $90 still seems like a lot of money, but oh well 🤷 #retrogaming

One thing that NYC has that we need is a frequent metro service all day every day that allows people to get around easily without driving.
The full Metro Tunnel timetable from February will help, but other lines also need upgrades.

🎸🚶The walk back from a Festival Hall concert to North #Melbourne station last night. Better footpaths wouldn’t hurt, but there’s little traffic. What would really make this better is more frequent evening trains so you don’t face a long wait to get home.

Where am I? It doesn't seem like there's enough signage on the platforms for new underground stations set to be some of the busiest on the network. #Melbourne #MetroTunnel

Unexpected cancellations have a much greater impact when services are infrequent.

We hope The Big Switch delivers better than 20 minute frequency through the munnel and across the network.

V/Line has widespread delays (including from heat)... heat also delaying Metro #Melbourne this afternoon:

Craigieburn/Sunbury/Upfield up to 35 mins
Werribee/Williamstown up to 35 mins

Toronto's new Line 6 though? I'd heard it was bad but I really wasn't prepared for just how miserable it was. at every single intersection, every turn movement goes before the tram, losing at least a minute every single time. I'm in disbelief this was approved to open in this condition

Many trams don't yet have air con, but are slowly being upgraded/replaced.
Buses and trains do, but extreme heat can still cause disruptions.
How's the temperature on your public transport service today? Any delays due to heat?🥵

More frequent services all day every day would get a lot more people onto public transport and out of the traffic. Big improvements are possible without a huge investment in bigger fleets and more track. #Melbourne #PublicTransport
