Say hello to Pixie!

She's a 10 years old, grumpy lady who likes playing (as if she were still a young kitten!), grooming her bossy sister, and following a breatharian diet (turning down all of her food).
A mostly white cat, sitting in a loaf-shaped posture on a pink blanket over a sofa. A mostly white cat, sitting on a pink blanket over a sofa. A front paw is sticking out and she's looking at the camera. A mostly white cat, sitting on a pink blanket over a sofa. A front paw is sticking out and her eyes are closed. When you and your Italian coworkers speak English at your workplace.
A screenshot from the infamous intro cutscene of Zero Wing, showing a line of dialogue (with a comically bad English translation) below an image.

A starship deck with some crew members sitting at their battle stations. Some large screens are all flashing red.

Captain: "What happen ?" Another screenshot, with another scene and another line of dialogue.

A blond man in a blue spacesuit is punching a table (or the ground) with a fist, whereas his other hand is pressed against his face. He looks very upset, almost desperate.

Captain: "What you say !!"

I have a GUM Sonic Sensitive toothbrush (but I'm not the one using it). Its vibrations are way softer than those of other toothbrushes.

That was the ending of Robbie Williams's "Rock DJ" videoclip.

Great news! Did you cook anything nice?

You should *not* be an outsider, that should be normal!

About zero-sum games: I think this originates from role models, which make it appear as the only plausible way to build a relationship.

I'm guilty of this, and I try to stay out of the zero-sum mindset as much as I can!

She'd better have a good reason for this, like her phone got dropped into a ditch and she couldn't call you!

Anyway, I'm happy it worked out (eventually)!

Siren is right! That's highly unprofessional.

That's brilliant! A clever and fair way to deal with workplace freeloaders (who, fortunately, are very few).

The danger of becoming a bottleneck is too real! I've been on either side too many times!
danilopiazza.bsky.social
That's excellent advice, and I should have learned it sooner!

I pull this even when I actually think I should help, just to make sure that it's okay to drop what I'm currently doing.

This specific thing isn't a big deal but, yeah, there are many other tiring situations. 😅

I'm glad you found another place with, hopefully, more respect for your boundaries!
danilopiazza.bsky.social
I do! I was tempted to post this quoting your piece of advice!

Yeah, this sounds like one of these cases.

I'm probably helping them in a better way, by "forcing" them to, uh, learn how to actually solve such a problem by themselves (which they should already have, BTW; learned, not solved).

They are probably trying to dump their work on me, honestly. 😅

Work ethics dilemma: I'm helping an experienced coworker doing their job. Is it okay if I help them, stopping short of doing their job myself?

The key aspect here is: they are more experienced than me, and (supposedly) more qualified for this specific task. I wouldn't do that to a junior.

I'm so glad to see it's working, and that you're already benefitting from it!

They updated the website, and I got my reservation!

Your post might have just saved my life :3

(or, less dramatically, the schedule of a sprint sometimes in the upcoming winter.)

The hardest part was knowing that I need boundaries. The second hardest thing is discovering what these boundaries are.

Given how easy it is to tap accidentally, I assume I'm not the only one.

(However, if you see a notification, and then your post has been saved zero times, I probably did it... This means that I have involuntarily been a poltergeist!)

Wow! That's basically what I've been doing for all this years at work in addition to my job (encouraged by not-so-unspoken rules), realising only recently how much it has been draining me.
