Absolutely lawless. The people against the creation of DHS were right. The people saying abolish ice so long ago were right. The people saying it now are right. Any elected official who is unwilling to commit to that should be pilloried out of office.

no lies the closing of the contra-flow bus lane in oakland has fucked transit in this city so hard

"sure w'ell close this dedicated bus lane and have buses drive in regular traffic through one of the most congested areas of the city. update the timetables? no, don't be silly why would we do that"

this developer's entitlement is practically dripping off the page here. "we're not moving the garage entrance to the alley" bc the neighborhood assoc & local businesses did not support their zoning variances application. "we can wait" because now they have their man in the mayor's office ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oversized luxury condos along the Strip District’s narrow business corridor? Locals oppose the developers’ plans, saying they would be “detrimental to traffic, health, safety and welfare of the employees and patrons of our business community.” From @nextpittsburgh.bsky.social buff.ly/N7Id17o
Zoning Board rejects Strip District condos, but developer holds out hope for O’Connor
After zoning holdups under Gainey's watch, Strip District developers hope to find Pittsburgh's new administration more receptive.

how I feel getting on a prt bus during a snowstorm
one time i was on an overnight megabus going across central pennsylvania during a blizzard and as we slid down the highway in near total darkness the driver got on the intercom and said “this is gonna be a rough one folks, i don’t know about this”

good morning pittsburgh, if you have $12 and an hour or two to spare this weekend I cannot recommend the black photojournalism exhibit at carnegie museum of art strongly enough. a powerful & inspiring reminder that americans have beaten back fascism before and we can again. exhibit closes monday!

We don't lack empathy, we just implement and communicate it more directly and unambiguously, which neurotypicals find off-putting.

If anything, the autistic people in my life have always been orders of magnitude more compassionate and kind than the hostile, close-minded NTs I grew up with.
No, autistics do not “lack empathy”: “Where researchers had assumed impairment, they found autistic people applying moral principles more consistently—even to strangers, even when costly.” By Ludmila Pradlova.

What the World Got Wrong About Autistic People
For decades, autism research compared autistic people to animals, denied them moral sensitivity, and assumed autistic traits made them miserable. All wrong.

“ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do” played over video of ICE engaging in acts of violence should be the wall to wall DNC media strategy right now
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”

i will never get over this rebecca tiffany quote: the goal of yimbyism is a world where "every trans eighteen-year-old who is stuck living with unsupportive family [is] able to afford an apartment in a vibrant urban space with transit on a minimum wage job."

Driven by AI, Homer City, PA will see the construction of the country's largest gas plant, nearly doubling the pollution of the huge coal plant it replaces, the equivalent of putting millions of cars on the road. imagine being such a loser that you'd have to practice saying the same word out loud over and over again
Trump: "One of the reasons they're doing these fake riots-- I mean they're just terrible. It's so fake. 'Shame! Shame! Shame!' You see the woman. It's all practiced. They take hotel rooms and they all practice together. It's a whole scam. We're finding out who's funding all this stuff too."

The whole point of “cops need more training” policies is not to actually address the issues of police abuse and brutality, but to give politicians an out for giving cops more funding to go after which part of society they despise the most.
