Oh yeah agreed with your original principal, but that's like 2% of a monthly cost for the military.
The troops aren't getting paid by private donation, the bi-weekly cost of MILPERS for the department is ~$8B.
Then they should deliver fully ready games. Plus people have got bit too many times with big name games only to have them be a complete dumpsterfire for the a few months after release or just completely flop (starfield etc).
This point really upsets some folks, but it is true. Folks wonder why there's so much DLC, microtransactions and stuff and the answer is that at a $70 price point, inflation adjusted, games cost 75% of what they did in 2000 when it was typically $50.

Inflation is like that.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising
Did you see the article about Samsung starting to put screen ads in their refrigerators with built-in displays?

Yeah but not having 100 pop-ups and 60/40 add to actual words ratio is worth it to me. It's actually quite jarring when I forget I have it turned off for some reason and go to a website. It's like oh God what the hell is all this?!
If you have android or windows PC, I'll plug AdGuard. You can get a lifetime license for less than a hundred bucks and it nukes ads on websites. This is my stats since this beginning of the year.
So many conversations lately with people about "they want" and I'm like who is "they", well you know *insert some nebulous group*.

Great moments in redaction history.
Here in VA state law mandates that every students shall have recess every day, so I would be having a talk with the teacher and school admin.
It's like the classic corporate name change game, every couple of years they "reform" the school add a week, cut a week, shuffle some things around and somehow it always ends up looking about the same as one of the last three "reform" results.
