The facepalm was designed for precisely this kind of story.

We are truly in the most cursed timeline!
I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

Michael Gove Made Orwell Prize Judge Despite Record of Attacking Journalists and Dodging Scrutiny
Critics say "Orwell would have enjoyed the irony" of the former Conservative minister's appointment

"writing code to solve a problem" used to have "understanding the problem" as a prerequisite. but vibecoding allows solution-shaped objects to be produced without any of the hard-won understanding. beware of solution-shaped objects.

The real “fantasy economics” is believing that a slavish adherence to OBR forecasts, treasury orthodoxy, & fiscal rules to pacify the bond markets will halt the economic doom spiral.

The status quo approach has provably failed so surely should be treated as less credible than notional alternatives!

“We need time to fully dehumanise Palestinians in the minds of our young people so that when they eventually see all the genociding they will no longer care”

So speaks a “moderate” voice…I didn’t think I could be shocked by the depths pro-Israel liberals would go to…and yet, new depths beckon… 😢
Former Obama speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz says Jewish students shouldn’t have smartphones until they finish high school — so they don’t see the “carnage” Israel and the U.S. have carried out in Gaza.

If only someone had mentioned that when they come for the rights of a minority it never stops there…

“Protecting women’s rights” is now moving towards “reducing women’s bodily autonomy” is it? Colour me shocked! 😢
Kathleen Stock has written an article against "abortion permissiveness". She claims abortion requires "justification" saying the state should limit "unacceptable decision-making" by women about their own bodies.

This is who anti-trans activists proclaim as the feminist thought leaders of our time.

In labour this is called ‘entryism’ rather than ‘enthusiasm’ or ‘inspiration’…
Speaking in Brighton this PM, Zack Polanski has announced that Green Party of England & Wales membership is now over 170,000 - which means over 100,000 people have joined the party since his election in September

What chance the fast bowlers - but wood and archer in particular - can stay fit throughout the series?

Feels more than ever like #ashes success is possible, but contingent on some very fragile bodies (in sporting terms) lasting the distance 🤞
This is incredible bowling from England. Been a long time since we've had a spell this good in Australia.

Correct…and yet…
All those journalists - led by Kuenssberg and Peston - who cheer-led Boris Johnson into Number 10 should be hanging their heads in shame today, and retiring tomorrow.

Carse and England are absolutely on fire! Australia are now 31 - 4, courtesy of a snorter from Carse.

The seamer's delivery from a shorter length rears ever so slightly and catches his glove on the way through to Smith behind the stumps!

Absolute carnage here on day one!

On Trans Day of Remembrance we remember those we have lost, and how much further we have to go.

The hate, discrimination and violence our trans and non-binary communities face today is unacceptable and we will always fight for a North where everyone is free to be themselves.

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember the bright and courageous trans people whose lives were stolen by hatred. Their absence is felt across our city.

We will honor them by building a New York where every trans person can live safely, fully and freely.

Obviously they are moving to the right too slowly and too timidly, the falling polling is just a sign they need to go right harder and faster…yours, M. McSweeney…
The more Labour moves to the right, the lower it sinks in the polls. Surely it can't be long before its election-winning genius strategists put two and two together?

Tories: gleefully introduce draconian policies that dehumanise migrants

Labour: introduce similar policies but do a sad face about it &claim they have to because pragmatism

Lib Dems: tumbleweed

Reform: complain it’s never enough, shout more, harder, crueler…

Glad there’s now a proper alternative
Cruel. Callous. Cowardly.

The public are seeing this Labour government for exactly who they are.

We all have a responsibility to make them pay at the ballot box.

Reject the hate. Reject them.

This is not who we are. Let's make hope normal again.

Ok so let me get this straight…if you flee a war torn country and make it to the UK and haven’t lost absolutely everything the UK government will confiscate what you have left…and then in a few years time will rescind your visa and send you back with nothing?

And this is sensible centrism?

Is it just people who have an arts background and move into politics that are considered to have failed? Or is it applied equally to all politicians - failed lawyers, failed investment bankers, failed landlords etc.
The right wing approach now is to put me in a box with an incredibly successful politician who just won a stunning victory.

This is Pure Cope Exhibit A
