Honestly the amount of research ethics bureaucratic paperwork universities are drowning themselves/staff in for projects that are mostly not dangerous/contentious at all and marketing teams are just flinging stuff up onto the Nazi Sexualiser 5000 no problem

I don't know how representative BlueSky or my timeline are for the US political centre and left, but it's amazing how many people in that range still believe that the fascists will be brought down by this or that procedural technicality.

A Black man was killed by ICE (off duty) in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. And like Renée Good, he was an American citizen. But most people have not heard about Keith Porter.

Here in Finland, Epiphany is a public holiday. And naturally, given its location (!) one's road home is a careful and confidential choice. My favourite Finnish expression roughly translates as ‘better to go a mile in the wrong direction than take a dangerous shortcut’.
