Amazon stopped reporting its total energy consumption about two years ago, but I've estimated it here using the raw emissions data they've reported (and buried deep in hard-to-find places)

Their unadjusted emissions are many times higher than their declared:

Italy “objectively” evaluates scientific output by metrics on WoS and Scops.
Researchers with a “difficult” name (accents, two words surnames, etc) have to learn how to get their records complete.
Universities pay for access.
Need for papers and citations leads some to questionable practices.
„CNRS began this process by unsubscribing from Elsevier's Scopus and is continuing today by cutting access to Clarivate Analytics' bibliometric database. This will help the org save €1.4 mill annually in subscription fees, redirected towards promoting open science & development of open databases.“
From January 1st 2026, the CNRS will cut access to one of the largest commercial bibliometric databases, Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science, along with the Core Collection and Journal Citation Reports.

Le "motif" c'est "mettre 0 à une copie de psycho qui ne cite que la Bible" 🙃. Mais c'est bien une offensive organisée contre les profs trans à l'Université.

The UK ➕ NL pulling out funding so shortly after the criminal complaint was filed is the writing on the wall for the LNG Mozambique project's future.

Now all other financiers must stop funding this atrocious project linked to human rights violations❗

While I was TAing during my first MA, we were tasked with solo teaching a couple sections a semester. Our advisor encouraged us to bring these types of situations (really any situation we didn't know how to handle) to her to resolve. We were students still learning, & our tenured profs protected us
If you are a chair of a department or supervise grad students, it might be important to collaborate with your colleagues on ways to strategize when a "problem essay" comes down the pike. It's one small way of protecting each other.

We have a lot of more fundamental problems but this is good I guess
My bipartisan IRS MATH Act with Senator Bill Cassidy is now law.

Now, if you mess up your taxes, the IRS has to tell you where you made a mistake and how to fix it.

No more spending a fortune on lawyers or hours to find errors.

That means fewer headaches and more money in your pocket.
